Position Summary

In collaboration with the Director of Clinical Pharmacy, is responsible for on-line supervision of the pharmacy operation. This responsibility includes oversight of all activities inclusive of, but not limited to, unit-dose dispensing, intravenous admixtures, chemotherapy, narcotic drug control, and floor stock. Prepares the schedule for staffing of pharmacy operations. Maintains open communications and is available to component organizations and practitioner sites for consultation.

Core Job Functions
- Performs monthly inspections as required by law. Ensures proper working order of automated dispensing cabinets as well as medication inventory levels at each location. Ensures all pharmacy license are current and in good standing.
- Assures personnel are properly oriented and trained in pharmacy operation. Assures the work performance of all pharmacy personnel is in compliance with established standards of practice. Assures personnel are used effectively at all times, directing work assignments based on level of activity.
- Functions as a clinical pharmacist as workload or schedule may demand. Assists with personnel interviews and completion of performance evaluations, counseling and disciplining of personnel and maintenance of appropriate documentation. Serves on committees as assigned by Director of Clinical Pharmacy.
- Assures compliance with all departmental policies and procedures. Assists in the prioritization of work area activities to ensure efficient functioning of daily patient care tasks. Assists in directing and supervision the activities of technicians to ensure completion of assigned work in an accurate and timely manner.
- Participates in management decisions regarding department program development. Provides proficient use of drug information literature, including the use of electronic information resources. Provides in-services on drug therapy to healthcare providers as needed or requested.
