The Los Angeles County Employees Retirement Association (LACERA) administers and manages the $85 billion retirement fund for the County of Los Angeles. We provide retirement, disability, and death benefits to eligible County Employees and their Beneficiaries, and collect, deposit, invest, and manage retirement funds collected from the County, Outside Districts, and County Employees.

ABOUT THE POSITION: Positions allocable to this class typically report to a clerical supervisor or higher and are assigned to various divisions throughout LACERA to perform specialized clerical duties requiring a working knowledge of specialized subject matter and related clerical functions.
Incumbents are expected to have knowledge of general office procedures; operation of standard office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, printers, and scanners; and general records management. They are also expected to be proficient in using digital software tools and platforms to carry out specialized clerical tasks. This role requires initiative and the exercise of independent judgment within established policies and procedures.
The Clerk, LACERA series is distinguished from the Typist-Clerk, LACERA series in that the latter performs skilled typing in addition to specialized clerical work.
VACANCY INFORMATION
There are currently two (2) vacancies in the Document Processing Center within the Administrative Services Division. The resulting eligible register will be used to fill both current and future vacancies throughout LACERA.
Work Schedule: This full-time position is required to work a 5/40 schedule (e.g. an eight (8) hour day, Monday through Friday) for at least the first twelve (12) months of employment. This position is required to be on-site.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
OPTION 1:
Six (6) months of office clerical experience in the service of LACERA.
OPTION 2:
One year's office clerical experience.
OPTION 3:
A certificate or Associate of Arts degree in clerical procedures or office administration from an accredited college.PHYSICAL CLASS II - Light physical effort which may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit, and occasional bending, walking, stooping or squatting. Incumbents sit for extended periods of time. Work is performed in an office environment in a controlled climate.
Other Requirements: Applicants must be able to perform the essential functions of this classification, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated specialized document imaging experience which includes coordinating, preparing, prioritizing, processing, and quality checking documents for scanning; ensuring all scanned images are complete and legible; and performing routine maintenance on scanning equipment.
- Demonstrated specialized printing experience requiring the use of a variety of reproduction-related equipment and software such as high-volume commercial printers, with proficiency in operating and maintaining the printer by replenishing supplies and troubleshooting common issues.
- Demonstrated experience working with documents containing information requiring a high level of data security and confidentiality, such as protected health information (PHI), legal documents, or personal information such as social security numbers.
- Demonstrated experience in sorting and indexing large volumes of physical and digital documents using alphanumeric filing systems requiring attention to detail and accuracy.

EXAMINATION CONTENT: The selection process will consist of:
Part I: An evaluation of application information and the desirable qualifications.
Only qualified applicants, as determined under Part I, will be invited to continue in the selection process under Part II.
Part II: A multiple-choice assessment of competencies required for this job, weighted 100%.
The multiple-choice test assesses the candidate's knowledge and skills related to ability to sort (alphabetical and numerical), attention to detail, conflict management, customer service, data entry, general computer skills, interpersonal skills, problem solving, proofreading, record locating, teamwork, and workload management.
MULTIPLE CHOICE AND/OR SIMULATION ASSESSMENTS ARE NOT REVIEWABLE BY CANDIDATES PER CIVIL SERVICE RULE 7.19.- Applicants who have taken identical components recently for other exams may have their scores automatically transferred to this examination.
- This assessment contains test components that may be used in the future for new examinations, and your test responses may be transferred.
