Welcome to Corner Bakery Cafe!
We started in Chicago in November 1991 as a small bakery supplying artisan breads. Today we’re a neighborhood gathering spot serving made-to-order breakfast, lunch, and dinner, whether you dine in, grab it to go, or order catering. Our kitchens are real kitchens. We chop over 40 kinds of fresh herbs, fruits, and vegetables every day, scramble eggs to order over open flames, hand-toss salads, and keep the ovens going all day long. Our Breadheads are the heart of the brand. They’re passionate, creative, and genuinely love helping others.

About the Role
Join our kitchen team and help serve fresh, made-to-order food our guests love. Working under the direction of the Cafe Manager, you’ll prepare soups, salads, desserts, beverages and more, quickly and to spec.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities that you’ll do:
• Cook on the oven and stove to prepare menu items to spec within set ticket times
• Wash and prep produce and other ingredients
• Follow recipe builders and daily spec details to keep every plate consistent
• Follow food safety and knife safety procedures at all times
• Track waste and keep portions accurate
• Help receive deliveries, stock ingredients, and rotate product (FIFO)
• Keep the kitchen and cafe clean, including deep cleaning
• Stay current on new and existing recipes

Secondary Functions:
• Custodial as required

Job Specifications and Requirements we’re looking for:
• High school diploma or equivalent, or currently working toward one
• State food handler card or ServSafe certification, as required locally
• 3+ months of food prep experience preferred; restaurant or retail a plus
• Ability to read, speak, and write English well enough to follow recipes and safety procedures
• Ability to stand for long shifts, ability to lift up, and work in a fast-paced, hot environment
• [If needed:] Valid driver’s license and insurance, plus completion of CBC driver training and an MVR check, for occasional [catering] deliveries
