Job Description
Love cooking and working with kids? Join our team at Hudson Table! We are an interactive culinary studio and event space looking for a talented Chef to teach hands-on cooking classes for kids ages 2–17 throughout the year. This is a flexible, year-round role that includes after-school cooking series, holiday and school-break classes, and birthday parties — with the opportunity to also join our summer camp team (June–August).
Schedule:
Classes run throughout the year and formats vary:
- After-school series – weekday afternoons, running as multi-week semester series
- Holiday & school-break classes – single classes or short intensives on school holidays and in-service days, generally daytime hours
- Birthday parties – typically booked on weekends
- Summer camp – Monday–Friday, June 15–August 21, staff hours 8:30am–4pm, camper hours 10am–3:15pm
Availability needed varies by season — some instructors work a few classes a month, others take on a full weekly slate plus parties. We'll work with you to build a schedule that fits. Some weekend availability is a must.
Teaching experience, especially with children, is a plus. Must have 2+ years of kitchen experience or have attended culinary school.
Compensation: Pay varies by class type and length (single classes, multi-week series, birthday parties, camp days), plus tips.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead hands-on culinary classes and parties for children in a fun, engaging, and age-appropriate manner
- Teach pre-developed lesson plans and recipes while maintaining pacing and structure
- Demonstrate proper cooking techniques, kitchen safety, and sanitation standards
- Supervise and support kids during food prep, cooking, and cleanup
- Create a positive, inclusive, and encouraging environment for every class or party
- Manage time effectively to complete all planned activities and recipes within the session
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen throughout each session
- Communicate clearly with kids, parents, and studio staff as needed
- Adapt instruction to accommodate varying ages and skill levels, from young beginners to more advanced teens
- Assist with setup and breakdown of classes and parties, including equipment and ingredients
- Uphold company policies, food safety guidelines, and child safety protocols
