Job Description
Responsible for leading with oversight of program growth in all aspects of Cardiology services which includes but not limited to Cardiac surgery, General, Invasive and Interventional cardiology, Electro-physiology, etc. This includes working collaboratively to lead efforts to improve patient outcomes, increase access to providers and health care services, evaluate new processes and assist in growth of Cardiac Services for the health system. This position is accountable for enhancing the financial and clinical performance of Cardiology Services with regard to cost, quality and outcomes while collaborating with other Departmental Directors, Managers and be respectful of existing processes while engaging staff to embrace change. This position should understand and lead analysis of financial impacts of proposed additions to the Cardiovascular program. This position may serve as an educator/resource to staff members in Cardiac Care with a focus on staff growth, education and retention. Must be competent to evaluate data collection points from all areas and have knowledge of NCDR and STS data registry data points. This position will serve as a liaison for outside facility referrals to promote improved communication, facilitate patients moving through the various programs as efficiently as possible to improve access to Cardiology care and increase the overall footprint of Cardiac Services in the region.
Performs education for patients, staff and community. Coordinates, plans, and performs a variety of learning experiences for team members in conjunction with Department Directors and Managers. Determines educational needs based on team member input, physician feedback, performance improvement activities, variance report tracking, advances in clinical knowledge and practice. Works in coordination with Unit Educators to help promote learning for all team members involved in the care of Cardiac patients. Functions as a clinical expert, offering monthly educational sessions for staff member to attend on various topics.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care/Nursing from an accredited School of Professional Nursing
- Master’s Degree in Nursing, Business, Finance of Health Care Administration from an accredited college/university.
- Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Missouri required
- At least five years of leadership experience in Nursing, Finance or Healthcare
- At least five years of previous leadership in the area of Cardiovascular Services
- Current BLS and ACLS required
- Knowledge and skill in program design, implementation and evaluation
- Possess highly developed communication, organizational and leadership skills with strong critical thinking skills
- Knowledge and skill in program design, implementation and evaluation
- Familiar with basic nursing performance standards as outlined in the Missouri Nurse Practice Act
- Proficient in Microsoft word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
