Head of Medical Science in San Francisco, California at Aonic

Your Mission
As a pivotal member of our founding team, you will lead the medical science initiatives at Aonic, shaping the future of proactive health and longevity solutions. You will provide expert medical guidance to ensure our AI-powered health companion app, diagnostics offerings, and functional consumer goods align with the latest medical research and best practices. Collaborating closely with our Engineering, Product, and Design (EPD) teams, you will drive the integration of clinical insights into product development, optimize user experiences, and uphold the highest standards of regulatory compliance. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be instrumental in expanding Aonic’s mission to empower people to live healthier while enjoying it.
Your Responsibilities:
Medical Expertise and Oversight • Medical Guidance: Offer expert advice to ensure all health-related content and product features align with current medical research and best practices. • Regulatory Compliance: Advise on adherence to regulations such as HIPAA and FDA guidelines, providing insights on legal considerations in collaboration with our legal team. • AI and Health Oversight: Oversee the safe and ethical integration of AI technologies in health-related applications, collaborating with engineering teams to define permissible functionalities while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Product Development Support • Testing Strategy Development: Develop comprehensive strategies for diagnostic testing, determining the scope and methods of tests to be offered, while making informed decisions to meet organizational objectives. • Product Collaboration: Work closely with our EPD team to define AI system categories and enhance user experience and clinical relevance. • Research Support: Provide leading research papers within each AI category and outline requirements for the team to source additional studies.
Strategic Planning and Advocacy • Legal Collaboration: Partner with legal teams to define messaging, branding, and language that comply with regulations. • Educational Content Creation: Help craft accurate and user-friendly educational content for the app to promote informed health decisions. • Public Health Advocacy: Act as a medical ambassador for Aonic, supporting preventative healthcare goals in alignment with public health initiatives. • Partnership Development: Build collaborations with universities and organizations specializing in preventative healthcare to enhance program offerings and support shared objectives.

Your Profile
Educational Background: • Required: Doctor of Medicine (MD). • Preferred: Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related science-based field.Professional Experience: • 5+ years in a senior medical role within the health technology sector. • Proven experience providing medical oversight for AI-driven diagnostic tools. • Demonstrated collaboration with engineering teams to integrate clinical insights into product development. • Experience leading compliance efforts related to HIPAA and FDA regulations.Skills and Abilities: • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams. • Highly motivated, strategic thinker with a results-driven mindset.Additional Qualifications: • Ability to work 5 days onsite in our office in downtown San Francisco, CA. • Experience in overseeing preventative health programs utilizing biometric data. • Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams of healthcare providers. • Expertise in implementing personalized patient care plans based on diagnostics.
