- Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm - However some overtime is expected due to the nature of this role.
- This role is fully on-site and requires working in the office full time.

Job Summary
The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for managing cost accounting activities for a manufacturing operation, including inventory valuation, standard costing, and variance analysis. This role partners with operations leadership to improve financial performance, support strategic decision-making, and ensure accurate reporting of manufacturing costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and analyze standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead
- Monitor manufacturing variances and provide detailed analysis of production performance
- Prepare and review inventory reconciliations, cycle count adjustments, and physical inventory results
- Analyze cost of goods sold (COGS), inventory reserves, scrap, and manufacturing efficiencies
- Partner with operations and plant leadership to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements
- Support month-end and year-end close activities including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Manage the fixed asset ledger, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and reconciliation to the general ledger
- Oversee Construction in Progress (CIP) tracking — ensure costs are properly accumulated, projects are placed in service on time, and capitalization policies are applied consistently
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and annual standard cost roll processes
- Develop and maintain cost accounting reports, KPIs, and financial dashboards
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and GAAP standards
- Support external audits and provide requested financial documentation and analysis
- Assist with ERP system enhancements, costing updates, and process optimization initiatives
- Collaborate cross-functionally with purchasing, supply chain, and production
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within manufacturing or industrial environments
- Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory accounting, and variance analysis
- Knowledge of GAAP and manufacturing financial processes
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to communicate financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Experience with NetSuite a plus
