This role requires weekend, holiday, morning availability. Flexibility with scheduling is essential to meet the needs of our hotel operations.
JOB SUMMARY
The Housekeeping Supervisor supports daily housekeeping operations by assisting the Executive Housekeeper in maintaining cleanliness, safety, and brand standards throughout guest rooms and public areas. This is a working supervisor role that coordinates assignments, inspects rooms, supports team efficiency, and ensures an exceptional guest experience through hands-on operational support and guest service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist the Executive Housekeeper with assigning, monitoring, and adjusting daily room and task assignments to ensure operational needs are met.
- Inspect guest rooms, hallways, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to verify cleanliness, readiness, and compliance with brand standards before releasing rooms.
- Identify and report cleanliness deficiencies, maintenance concerns, damaged or missing items, and safety hazards promptly to the appropriate department.
- Perform hands-on housekeeping duties as needed during peak occupancy, staffing shortages, room turns, or deep-cleaning projects.
- Ensure guest rooms and supply areas are fully stocked with linens, amenities, and cleaning supplies; monitor inventory levels and assist with linen counts and inventories.
- Communicate room status, occupancy updates, and readiness issues with the front desk and utilize property management systems as required.
- Coordinate with Engineering and Property Operations regarding repairs, preventative maintenance needs, and safety issues.
- Oversee lost-and-found procedures, ensuring found items are properly secured, logged, and reported according to policy.
- Provide work direction and quality feedback to housekeeping associates to ensure rooms and assigned areas meet cleanliness, safety, and brand standards, including requiring rework when standards are not met.
- Promote high standards of guest service by responding courteously to guest inquiries and providing information about hotel services, amenities, and local attractions.
- Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, chemical handling, and health standards, including PPE requirements and proper equipment use.
- Complete department-specific reports and documentation accurately and timely.
OTHER DUTIES
- Assist with maintaining housekeeping schedules and ensuring adequate daily staffing levels.
- Support the onboarding and mentoring of new housekeeping associates by providing guidance and modeling quality standards.
- Track and report daily room counts and productivity metrics as required (e.g., CPOR reporting).
- Assist with deep cleaning projects, room turns, and special cleaning tasks (e.g., shampooing carpets, cleaning baseboards, washing walls) as scheduled.
- Support laundry operations as needed (e.g., sorting linen, folding towels, delivering clean linen to floors).
- Assist other departments during downtime as assigned.
- Maintain a clean, professional uniform and personal appearance and contribute to a hospitable service atmosphere.
- Follow all safety, security, and emergency procedures and act appropriately in emergency situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- A minimum of one year of housekeeping, cleaning or custodial experience required.
- Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred.
- Previous housekeeping, hotel, janitorial, or similar cleaning experience preferred (training provided).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong knowledge of housekeeping operations, room inspection standards, and hotel cleanliness expectations.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to guide, coach, and redirect team members in real time to meet service and quality standards.
- Ability to follow detailed cleaning procedures, checklists, and safety instructions consistently.
- Ability to work independently, manage time, and complete assigned rooms within required timeframes.
- Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and quality standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members (verbal and written English preferred).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working in occupied guest rooms.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

- Frequent standing and walking for extended periods throughout an 8-hour shift; may include walking long distances between guest rooms and service areas.
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching (including overhead), and twisting while cleaning guest rooms, bathrooms, and public areas.
- Frequent pushing/pulling and maneuvering of housekeeping carts, vacuums, and other equipment in corridors, elevators, and occasionally on ramps or uneven surfaces.
- Frequent repetitive use of hands/arms for wiping, scrubbing, vacuuming, making beds, lifting mattresses, and carrying items; requires hand/eye coordination and grip strength.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 30 lbs frequently (e.g., linens, trash bags, cleaning supplies) and up to 50 lbs occasionally with assistance or equipment as needed.
- Work is performed in guest rooms, corridors, stairwells, and public areas with exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, odors, and bodily fluids/trash; may require use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Environment may include wet/slippery surfaces, moving carts in tight spaces, varying temperatures/humidity, and moderate noise levels typical of hotel operations; work pace may be fast to meet room turn times.
