Position Summary

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of front-end loaders, excavators and grinder equipment to move, load, and manage materials within the facility. This position plays a critical role in daily production operations, ensuring materials are handled properly while maintaining site safety, environmental compliance, and operational efficiency.

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring focus, attention to detail, and adherence to all company safety standards. The operator is responsible for their own safety and the safety of others on-site.

The work hours are Monday through Friday 7:00am – 4:30pm. One Saturday a month 8:00am – 12:00pm.


Key Responsibilities

  • Operate wheeled loaders, excavators and grinder equipment to move, load, stockpile, and transport materials.
  • Load trucks and processing equipment accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain proper material flow to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections.
  • Monitor fluid levels, grease fittings, air filters, and basic preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Identify and report mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding production needs.
  • Assist with general labor tasks as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience operating wheeled loaders, excavators, grinders or similar heavy equipment.
  • Ability to perform equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor when required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in waste management, composting, recycling, aggregate, or industrial environments.
  • Knowledge of material handling procedures and load balancing.
  • Familiarity with safety-sensitive industrial operations.
  • Heavy equipment certifications (if applicable).

  • PPE required at all times (hard hat, safety vest, steel-toe boots, eye/ear protection).


Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged sitting while operating equipment.
  • Frequent climbing in and out of equipment.
  • Ability to perform manual labor as needed.
  • Ability to work extended hours, including weekends, if required.

Responsabilidades Clave
  • Operar cargadores con ruedas, excavadoras y equipos de trituración para mover, cargar, apilar y transportar materiales.
  • Cargar camiones y equipos de procesamiento de manera precisa y eficiente.
  • Mantener el flujo adecuado de materiales para asegurar operaciones continuas.
  • Realizar inspecciones diarias antes y después de operar el equipo.
  • Monitorear niveles de fluidos, puntos de lubricación, filtros de aire y mantenimiento preventivo básico.
  • Identificar y reportar de inmediato problemas mecánicos o riesgos de seguridad.
  • Mantener áreas de trabajo limpias y organizadas.
  • Cumplir con todas las políticas de seguridad de la empresa, regulaciones OSHA y lineamientos ambientales.
