POSITION SUMMARY

The Equipment Operator must work safely and productively on various sized Concrete Construction project sites. A successful candidate in this role must be highly motivated and willing to complete any task assigned, along with performing the essential duties of the Equipment Operator position. All employees are expected to communicate, always build relationships with other team members and use good judgment . The Equipment Operator is expected to have the ability to perform all duties of the positions preceding it in its specific career path, while being responsible and accountable to complete any other tasks assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Performs job tasks of a concrete finishing technician as necessary

• Conducts safety checks before operating concrete placement equipment.

• Operates the following heavy equipment to convey and level concrete according to specifications:

• Laser and slope screeds

• Conveyo

• Hardener Spreaders (Ride On/Somero)

• Heavy Trucks

• Lifting Equipment

• Conducts routine preventative maintenance necessary to keep equipment operating effectively, efficiently, and safely.

• Makes any minor repairs, as necessary, to keep power equipment safe and operational.

• Complies with all applicable state, company, and OSHA rules, regulations, and guidelines for safe operation of power equipment at the job site.

• Maintains any records related to equipment operation, maintenance, and safety.

• Operates as a safe and productive member of a finishing crew/team.

  1. Perform all assigned roles, responsibilities, and related work processes / tasks in the safest possible manner. Ensure that a safe, accident/incident-free work environment is maintained for all co-workers, customers, clients, suppliers, etc. at all times

Education and/or Experience

  1. High School Diploma/GED – preferred
  2. Vocational or technical training/work experience in concrete construction - desirable

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  1. Planning, prioritizing, and scheduling assigned work tasks and processes within a work team
  2. Knowledge of concrete and its properties
  3. Measuring and calculating square/cubic yards precisely
  4. Problem-solving, troubleshooting, and maintenance reasoning
  5. Communicating/reporting with concrete finishing foreman, finishing superintendents and work team members
  6. Assisting with development and implementation site safety and work-task plans
  7. Recognizing and correcting job site hazards
  8. Making judgments and decisions at task and process levels
  9. Listening, speaking, reading, and writing at a basic level
  10. Thinking logically and critically
  11. Seeing and interpreting details closeup and far away
  12. Focusing consistently on Safety, Quality, Production, and Innovation
  13. Interacting with other trades or subcontractors as necessary
  14. Manual dexterity
  15. Mechanical reasoning and skill

Working Conditions

  1. Outdoors - frequently
  2. Indoors - occasionally
  3. Loud noise - frequently
  4. Temperatures - seasonal
  5. Walking and riding on uneven terrain - frequently
  6. Wearing all PPE when on any project site (e.g., Steel toed boots, Hard hat, Safety glasses, gloves, earplugs, etc.)
  7. Multi-activity worksites - frequently
  8. Traveling/out of town - frequently
  9. 40 to 60-hour work week – frequently

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  1. Valid driver’s license – required
  2. Journeyman status - preferred
  3. OSHA 10-Hour Certification – required; training provided by Wayne Brothers
  4. OSHA 30-Hour Certification - preferred
  5. First Aid/CPR - desirable
  6. All-terrain material handler certification –desirable
  7. Aerial lift certification - desirable
  8. WB Craft Training and other certifications up through Placing/Finishing Level III - preferred
  9. ACI Certification (Finishing Technician/Finisher) – desirable

Physical Demands

  1. Lifting, carrying or moving up to 90 pounds
  2. Frequent steering, riding, bouncing
  3. Sitting for long periods of time on power equipment
  4. Focus concentration, attention to detail
