Reporting to the Associate Dean of Nursing Academics, Program Director, or Chair, the Full-Time Nursing Faculty

supports the University’s mission by facilitating student learning aligned with course and program outcomes. The role

provides leadership as an educator, mentor, and role model, fostering an innovative and accountable academic

environment. Faculty contribute program-specific expertise, participate in departmental initiatives, assess student

learning to ensure outcome achievement, and uphold academic integrity while supporting institutional and

accreditation goals.

Full Time Faculty- GE Science

INSTRUCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Fulfills assigned teaching load
  • Participates in and contributes to assessment activities of courses/curriculum and program via a continuous improvement plan as set forth by the University
  • Contributes regularly to the improvement or updating of class materials and syllabi within the prescribed shared governance culture as applicable to assigned responsibilities
  • Utilizes a variety of teaching methodologies to instruct students, with the intent to facilitate observable evidence of student fulfillment of prescribed learning outcomes
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for teaching and the teaching/learning process and for individual students
  • Keeps regular approved office hours
  • Follows established University protocols for providing timely feedback and/or academic advising (i.e., Grades in Progress, student Letters of Concern, etc.)
  • Capable of competence in teaching skills as demonstrated by:
  1. student evaluations
  2. peer evaluations
  3. self-evaluation
  4. administration reviews
  5. evidence of student achievement of course student learning outcomes.
  • Mentors and takes an active interest in students
  • Explores scholarly research to improve teaching and instruction
  • Explores cross-disciplinary approaches to instruction

SCHOLARLY ACTIVITIES:

  • Maintains membership in a professional organization
  • Attends professional development activities each year as agreed upon with supervisor
  • Selects a minimum of one of the following activity areas: publishing & writing, acting as contributor to textbooks, presenting at conferences or educational trainings, attending test-writing or accreditation activities, serving on thesis or dissertation committee or other agreed upon professional activity
  • Identifies, applies, and/or conducts specialized research or activities related to teaching and/or assigned teaching area(s), or may contribute to the scholarly community/knowledge of the discipline
  • Active contribution in a professional organization related to one’s field (publication, presentation, poster session, etc.)

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND SERVICE:

  • Attends department, College and University meetings/councils as arranged/approved by supervisor
  • Conducts self with a demeanor reflecting collegiality and behavior which demonstrates professional and ethical conduct
  • Develops connections within professional community both inside and outside the University
  • Actively participates in University initiatives as assigned
  • Assists with assessment, critique and evaluation of overall curriculum and may lead the process of revisions to program and syllabi (if necessary) while ensuring quality
  • Contributes/demonstrates ongoing service in at least one of the following areas: Community or Public Service,
  • Profession (member of professional organization) or University
  • Contributes to service of the University by serving on a minimum of one University-wide Committee or Council
  • Demonstrates an active leadership role in in one of the listed areas: Community or Public Service, Profession (member of professional organization) or University (other alternative approved activity as identified by Faculty Handbook)
  • May assist with program analysis to ensure best practices and optimal student outcomes
  • Collaborates with the Manager, Clinical Affiliations for clinical experiences

GENERAL SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As applicable to teaching assignment, records and posts daily class attendance and grades as required, completes and submits assignments in a timely manner, and grades tests, quizzes, lab assignments promptly, returning constructive feedback to students as soon as possible. Engages in systematic collection of student’s work for University outcomes assessment purposes
  • Maintains and uses University approved syllabus template and prepares/distributes syllabi in a timely fashion
  • Submits accurate grade-in-progress report(s) as required during the term/semester in accordance with the posted syllabus to the campus program Dean or Chair
  • Posts accurate points and final course grades earned throughout the term/semester in accordance with the posted syllabus as per teaching assignment(s)
  • Assists with program activities to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accrediting bodies, and University policies and procedures in concert with other University campus programs
  • Reviews and recommends improvements and enhancements to the consistency and quality of course offerings, course/program development, and curriculum
  • Participates in student success activities such as engaging in student academic counseling and/or establishing a point of contact for access to internal resources for student issues
  • Assures students are provided instructional support services within the subject area taught to maintain the highest level of student achievement while safeguarding the integrity of the educational process
  • Serves as a mentor, role model and facilitator and provides guidance and academic support for students
  • Attends meetings as required to share information, guidelines and procedures, coordinates activities, and to further disseminate information across the assigned department
  • Regularly attends and participates in Practice Learning Community
  • Follows proper procedures and channels of communication
  • Participates in professional development opportunities and professional organizations in order to remain current in assigned field
  • Maintains professional appearance for position and is courteous and approachable to students
  • Adheres to University policies and procedures and conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the University’s Code of Ethical Conduct, Compliance Agreement, Sexual Harassment
  • Policy or any of its policies and procedures, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standards
  • Maintains regular and timely attendance, reports to work as scheduled and assures time worked and/or time-off is recorded properly
  • Maintains confidentiality of all student, associate, and/or University information as required
  • Exercises care, proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies and identifies unsafe conditions and makes appropriate adjustments
  • Maintains order, cleanliness and safety at work
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s or Doctoral Degree degree from a regionally or internationally accredited institution in or closely related to field
  • Approved and qualified to teach all four science courses: Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology I & II, and Microbiology.
  • Completed a minimum of 15 semester credits in each of the listed subject areas.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching in online, on-campus, and/or hybrid learning environments.
  • Minimum of five years of university-level teaching experience within the relevant discipline.
  • Proven commitment to supporting and educating students from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Experience in curriculum development, student assessment, and program evaluation.
  • Proficient in the use of learning management systems (LMS) and other educational technologies.
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
