Job Description

Who Are We?

At CMLS Financial, we strike a unique balance: the financial strength of a 50-year industry leader with the energy of a dynamic, fast-paced firm.

  • Growth & Exposure: With over $40 billion in assets under administration, our "booming" business means you gain high-level exposure and real opportunities for career advancement.
  • Supportive Culture: We are professional yet enjoyable. We provide a challenging environment supported by a team that wants you to succeed.
  • National Reach: Work with Canada’s most prominent banks, investment managers, and pension funds from a platform with offices coast to coast.

Our Calgary originations team is adding a Financial Analyst to support in managing the financial modeling and documentation for our commercial mortgage pipeline. This is an ideal role for an analyst who wants to own their workflow, gain exposure to high-level deal structuring, and work within a close-knit team that prioritizes mentorship.

Where You’ll Make An Impact:

  • Financial Underwriting: Support in constructing and maintaining commercial proformas, including complex rent rolls, lease analysis, and NOI projections, to validate property performance and loan viability.
  • Application & Submission: Coordinate the end-to-end assembly of CMHC and conventional lender application packages, ensuring all technical documentation meets strict compliance and underwriting standards.
  • Credit Summarization: Draft summary of borrower financials and appraisal data into structured reports that clearly highlight key credit risks and performance metrics for the origination team.
  • Workflow Optimization: Assist in refining Excel templates and automated tools to replace manual data entry and increase the speed of the underwriting cycle.
  • Data Integrity & Quality Control: Serve as the technical checkpoint for all underwriting files, cross-referencing inputs against source documents to ensure 100% accuracy before final review.
  • Pipeline Management: Track the systematic flow of deal information from initial borrower intake to final approval, ensuring the accuracy of our deal data throughout the entire lifecycle.

What We Value:

  • One (1) year of experience in real estate finance, commercial lending, underwriting or similar experiences.
  • You bring a rigorous approach to financial modeling in Excel, coupled with an ability to apply AI to automate repetitive tasks and strengthen the precision of our loan submissions.
  • You value transparency and accountability. You are comfortable asking questions to ensure you get it right, and you own your work from the initial data intake through to the final loan submission.
  • You have an uncompromising eye for detail. You don't just complete the work; you audit it for accuracy, ensuring every proforma and submission is audit-ready and free of errors.
  • You build trust through reliability. You have the savvy to navigate high-stakes deal flows, ensuring accountability and clear communication at every level of the organization.

Supporting Your Life at CMLS:

  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive insurance (Drug, Vision, Dental) & Health and Wellness Spending Accounts.
  • Mental Support: 24/7 unlimited access to telemedicine, EAP, and mental health services for you and your family.
  • Time Off: 4 weeks paid vacation, plus personal/sick days and all statutory holidays.
  • Future Planning: RRSP Matching Program to help you build long-term wealth.
  • Family Support: Robust Maternity and Parental Leave Top-Up programs.
  • Professional Growth: Education reimbursement, mentoring, and continuous training.
