About the Role:

The Self-Contained Teacher - Elementary plays a critical role in delivering specialized instruction to students with diverse learning needs within an elementary school setting. This position focuses on creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth for students requiring special education services. The teacher will design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique abilities and challenges, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
• Valid state teaching certification/license in Special Education for elementary grades.
• Demonstrated experience working with elementary-aged students with special needs.
• Knowledge of federal and state special education laws and regulations, including IDEA.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, families, and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Education or Educational Leadership.
• Experience with assistive technology and adaptive instructional tools.
• Training in behavior management techniques and positive behavioral interventions.
• Familiarity with multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RTI) frameworks.
• Bilingual abilities or experience working in diverse cultural settings.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs in a self-contained classroom setting.
• Deliver differentiated instruction that addresses the academic, social, and behavioral needs of each student.
• Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching methods and materials accordingly to meet learning objectives.
• Collaborate with parents, special education coordinators, therapists, and general education teachers to support student development and ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and attendance in compliance with district and legal requirements.
• Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and independence.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and elementary teaching.
