As a Senior Distributed Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable systems that process and analyze large volumes of internet data. You will contribute to platform capabilities, improve engineering practices, and collaborate across teams to deliver reliable solutions.
- Build and maintain large-scale, real-time services and applications powered by extensive datasets.
- Develop tooling, libraries, frameworks, and platform services supporting security, research, and data initiatives.
- Transform prototypes into reliable production systems with strong monitoring, maintainability, and operational standards.
- Design and improve distributed systems including data pipelines, messaging systems, databases, caching layers, and cloud-based services.
- Participate in technical planning, architecture discussions, and solution design with engineering and product teams.
- Collaborate with machine learning and security specialists to develop solutions with measurable impact.
- Write clean, testable, and maintainable code while contributing to engineering best practices.
- Support continuous improvements in system reliability, scalability, and developer workflows.
The ideal candidate is a highly experienced software engineer with strong expertise in distributed systems and cloud-based architectures. You should be comfortable working independently, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and applying modern engineering practices to complex technical challenges.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on distributed systems, data platforms, services, or large-scale applications.
- Strong experience with object-oriented programming, preferably with Go or similar languages.
- Experience working with at least one major cloud provider such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Knowledge of messaging technologies such as Kafka, AWS Kinesis, Google Pub/Sub, or similar solutions.
- Experience with distributed databases such as BigTable, Cloud Spanner, HBase, Cassandra, or equivalent technologies.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts including scalability, reliability, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.
- Ability to design and implement maintainable software with strong testing practices.
- Familiarity with AI tools and the ability to use them responsibly to improve productivity and technical outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and product stakeholders.
- Experience with REST, gRPC, data serialization technologies, Kubernetes, or containerized environments is a plus.
- Knowledge of internet protocols, cybersecurity concepts, or security-focused technologies is highly desirable.
- Competitive annual compensation ranging from approximately $151,000 to $206,000 USD depending on location, experience, and role scope.
