Job Description
Planned is the AI Event Intelligence Platform. Enterprises use Planned to source, manage, and pay for their meetings and events, with AI doing the work that used to take entire teams and agencies. We're about 75 people, headquartered in Montreal, going after one of the largest categories in B2B that software never properly captured.
We're on a mission to disrupt a $500+ billion industry. To achieve that, we want to work with brilliant minds and natural leaders who are driven to out-think, out-plan, and outperform the competition. We tackle every business decision with enthusiasm, and we love the work that we do!
As our Head of Marketing, you'll own the function end-to-end - narrative, demand, product marketing, and brand. Marketing today is founder-led and scrappy: it works, but it doesn't scale, and your job is to turn it into an engine without losing the taste and speed that got us here. We're creating a category, the AI Event Intelligence Platform - you'll own the story of a $100B+ services layer becoming software, and make it impossible to ignore. You'll work directly with the founders on positioning, pipeline, and the moments that define the company: launches, fundraises, and flagship events.
What You'll Do
- Own the company narrative: positioning, messaging, and the category story that wins against incumbents 100x our size.
- Build the demand engine: outbound air cover, SEO, paid, lifecycle, and field marketing, with clear attribution on what's working.
- Own product marketing: launches, packaging, battlecards, and enablement against the software and agency incumbents.
- Make the rebrand compound: carry it through the website, the product, sales materials, and every customer touchpoint.
- Run Planned's own events as proof of product. We sell event intelligence; our events should be the best in the industry.
- Own pipeline targets jointly with Sales and report on marketing as a revenue function.
- Hire a small, senior, AI-native team and keep leverage extremely high.
- Write. The bar for copy at Planned is high, and you'll be the one who sets it.
- Marketing leadership at a high-growth B2B company with an enterprise motion and six-figure ACVs.
- A builder, not a caretaker: you've taken marketing from founder-led to engine, and you still ship work yourself.
- Deep product marketing instincts: you can find the wedge against entrenched incumbents and arm the sales team to use it.
- Pipeline accountability: you treat marketing as a revenue function and you have the reporting habits to prove it.
- Exceptional taste. You notice the detail nobody else does, and you care that it's right.
- AI tools are a natural part of how you and your team work, not an afterthought.
- High agency, low ego, fast. Comfortable with ambiguity and tight loops with founders.
- Category creation experience: you've named a market and made it stick.
- You've marketed a rip-and-replace motion against legacy enterprise software.
- Familiarity with events, travel, procurement, or other services-heavy categories.
- You've scaled marketing through the $10M to $100M ARR journey before.
- Building the AI-native operating system for corporate event management and procurement.
- Trusted by companies like OpenAI, Discord, Coinbase, LEGO, DoorDash, and EY, and is replacing the legacy software and agencies that have run corporate events for decades.
- Scaling aggressively over the next two years.
- Selling seven- to nine-figure platform deals to some of the most demanding enterprise buyers in the world.
- Using AI tools as a natural part of how we sell: research, prep, follow-up, enablement.
- Living three values: Bias to action. Care deeply. In the trenches together.
- Culture of high performance, strong talent density and in-person collaboration
- Unlimited PTO
- Competitive comp packages
- All the tools and gear you need to be successful (Macbook, screens, mouse, keyboard, Claude, etc.)
- Health, dental, vision, and psychology insurance
- Bus pass subsidy or indoor parking
- Stocked up snacks & lunches in office 2x per week
- Dog-friendly office
- Relocation support, if needed
