George School, a Quaker boarding/day grades 9-12 college preparatory high school located in Newtown, Bucks County, PA has an opening for a seasonal Cheer Assistant Coach.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead engaging, safe, and well-organized daily practices.
  • Teach cheerleading skills, including motions, jumps, dance, chants, stunts, and conditioning appropriate to the team's skill level.
  • Develop practice plans that promote skill progression, teamwork, confidence, and physical fitness.
  • Foster a culture of integrity, mutual respect, inclusion, and encouragement that reflects George School's Quaker commitment to equality and community.
  • Promote leadership, sportsmanship, empathy, and respectful communication among team members.
  • Prepare the squad for athletic events, pep rallies, and other school performances.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes by following recognized cheer safety guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, athletic staff, and school administrators.
  • Support the academic success and personal growth of student-athletes while serving as a positive role model.
Requirements:
  • Previous cheerleading coaching or competitive cheer experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cheer techniques, including motions, jumps, dance, sideline cheers, and safe stunt progression.
  • Ability to teach and supervise stunts in accordance with recognized safety standards.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification, or willingness to obtain certification before the season begins.
  • Ability to obtain all required employment clearances and successfully complete required background checks.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with athletic department staff, faculty, students, and families.
  • Availability to attend practices, games, school events, and any required meetings or professional development.
  • Commitment to working towards antiracism and developing and practicing cultural competency.
  • Commitment to the traditions and philosophy of a Quaker educational community.
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population and a style consistent with Quaker values.
