George School, a Quaker boarding/day grades 9-12 college preparatory high school located in Newtown, Bucks County, PA has an opening for a seasonal Cheer Assistant Coach.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead engaging, safe, and well-organized daily practices.
- Teach cheerleading skills, including motions, jumps, dance, chants, stunts, and conditioning appropriate to the team's skill level.
- Develop practice plans that promote skill progression, teamwork, confidence, and physical fitness.
- Foster a culture of integrity, mutual respect, inclusion, and encouragement that reflects George School's Quaker commitment to equality and community.
- Promote leadership, sportsmanship, empathy, and respectful communication among team members.
- Prepare the squad for athletic events, pep rallies, and other school performances.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes by following recognized cheer safety guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, athletic staff, and school administrators.
- Support the academic success and personal growth of student-athletes while serving as a positive role model.
- Previous cheerleading coaching or competitive cheer experience preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cheer techniques, including motions, jumps, dance, sideline cheers, and safe stunt progression.
- Ability to teach and supervise stunts in accordance with recognized safety standards.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification, or willingness to obtain certification before the season begins.
- Ability to obtain all required employment clearances and successfully complete required background checks.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with athletic department staff, faculty, students, and families.
- Availability to attend practices, games, school events, and any required meetings or professional development.
- Commitment to working towards antiracism and developing and practicing cultural competency.
- Commitment to the traditions and philosophy of a Quaker educational community.
- Ability to work with a diverse student population and a style consistent with Quaker values.
