Senior Software Engineer II, Marketing Enablement & Technology

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer II, Marketing Enablement & Technology based in Canada.

This senior engineering role sits at the intersection of software engineering, marketing technology, product, and data.
You’ll provide technical leadership for platforms that power paid marketing channels and major growth initiatives.
The role combines hands-on engineering with architectural ownership, strategic planning, and cross-functional influence.
You’ll design reusable, scalable systems while improving developer productivity, reliability, observability, and security.
You’ll work closely with senior Product and Marketing leaders to shape technical and product decisions.
The environment is collaborative and highly autonomous, with opportunities to mentor engineers and lead initiatives across teams.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced engineer who wants broad technical impact beyond their immediate codebase.

Accountabilities:
  • Drive the technical roadmap for the Paid Marketing Technology team, balancing near-term delivery with longer-term investments in scalable, reusable systems.
  • Own key architectural decisions and establish patterns, abstractions, and technical foundations that can support evolving marketing needs.
  • Design and implement high-throughput systems with strong observability, resilience, security, and cost-efficiency considerations.
  • Improve engineering productivity by developing tools, processes, frameworks, and abstractions that increase team efficiency and code quality.
  • Lead strategic, cross-team engineering initiatives and represent engineering in discussions with senior Product and Marketing stakeholders.
  • Identify technical opportunities that can influence product strategy, roadmap priorities, and the effectiveness of marketing technology.
  • Champion practices such as advanced observability, chaos engineering, disaster recovery, security by design, and proactive cost optimization.
  • Mentor engineers through technical guidance, architectural reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing, including supporting engineers up to the L5 level.
  • Establish and improve coding standards, architectural patterns, technical review processes, and other practices that raise the overall engineering bar.
  • Help resolve organizational and technical dependencies that could block execution across teams.
  • Contribute technical leadership during high-priority incidents or initiatives, including projects outside your immediate area of expertise.
  • Collaborate with external or adjacent engineering teams on cross-pillar technical partnerships and integrations.
  • Help establish effective infrastructure, tooling, and best practices for AI-assisted software development while maintaining strong engineering judgment and quality standards.
Requirements:
  • 8–12 years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated ownership of technical roadmaps and architecture-level decisions.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python, including the ability to design reusable abstractions, frameworks, and patterns adopted across multiple projects.
  • Deep experience building scalable, high-throughput systems with strong observability, reliability, security, and cost-efficiency practices.
  • Proven ability to partner with senior Product and Marketing stakeholders and influence product strategy through technically informed recommendations.
  • Strong track record of improving engineering productivity through process improvements, developer tooling, technical standards, and mentorship.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and influence skills, with the ability to navigate complex organizational dependencies and drive cross-functional execution.
  • Experience with marketing technology or ad-tech ecosystems is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience modernizing legacy systems and managing technical debt strategically at the team level is a plus.
  • Experience establishing coding standards, architectural patterns, and technical review processes that improve engineering quality.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development practices and experience establishing tooling or workflows for engineering teams is advantageous.
  • Ability to remain pragmatic, adaptable, and effective during complex technical challenges or high-priority incidents.
  • Experience collaborating across organizational boundaries and serving as a technical point of contact for broader engineering partnerships is a plus.
Benefits:
  • Competitive Canadian base salary of CAD $196,000–$207,000, depending on permanent work location, experience, skills, and other factors.
  • New-hire equity grant and eligibility for annual equity refresh grants.
  • Flexible remote-first work model, allowing employees to choose where they work while maintaining meaningful opportunities for in-person connection.
  • Remote eligibility currently available in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia.
  • Highly competitive compensation and benefits tailored to the employee's location.
  • Opportunities for technical leadership, mentorship, and cross-functional career growth.
  • An inclusive and collaborative environment that values diverse perspectives and experiences.
  • Opportunities to work on technology supporting major marketing and growth initiatives.
  • Flexible working practices designed to support productivity, autonomy, and community connection.
