Princeton University (PU) and the Princeton Plasma Physics Lab (PPPL) are searching for an intellectual leader to establish a new interdisciplinary program in the new Princeton Plasma Innovation Center (PPIC). We seek a leader who will broaden PPPL’s research portfolio while concurrently strengthening ties with the University community.

The ideal candidate would articulate a vision for a new experimental research program at the boundary of plasma science and other disciplines. Possible areas of research include materials science, plasma-surface science, applications of plasma to quantum information science, manufacturing, and microelectronics. We anticipate that the successful candidate will establish a new group and laboratory at PPPL, largely in the PPIC, which is currently under construction and scheduled to be completed in 2027.

The successful candidate will hold a tenured appointment in a relevant department at the University as well as an appointment as a Principal Scientist at PPPL. As PPPL is a Department of Energy (DOE) National Laboratory, familiarity with DOE processes and a successful track record of DOE support are important considerations.
