POSITION: WOUND CARE NURSE (RN)

FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT

Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled and experienced Certified Wound Care Treatment Nurse to join our team at Bay 9 Holdings LLC dba Edgemere located in Dallas, Texas. The Certified Wound Care Treatment Nurse is responsible for supervising nursing services and maintaining quality and adequacy of nursing practice. This role is responsible for demonstrating a commitment to customer service through resident focused initiatives that support the mission of the community.

The key purpose of this position is to provide primary skin care to residents under the medical direction and supervision of the residents’ attending physicians, the Director of Nursing, or the Medical Director of the skilled nursing community, with an emphasis on treatment and therapy of skin disorders. You will also assist in modifying the treatment regimen to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of the resident, in accordance with established medical practices and the requirements of this state and the policies and goals of this facility.

Compensation & Benefits: This is a per diem/prn, hourly position, with a starting salary of $29.00+ per hour. In addition, Bay 9 Holdings LLC dba Edgemere offers competitive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits, generous PTO and holiday vacation time, and 401K.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:

  • Conduct thorough wound assessments on patients, documenting wound characteristics, measurements, and treatment plans.
  • Demonstrated a thorough knowledge of wound staging.
  • Develop and implement individualized wound care plans based on patient needs, medical history, and physician orders.
  • Administer wound care treatments, including wound cleansing, debridement, dressing changes, and application of topical medications.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on proper wound care techniques, prevention strategies, and dressing changes.
  • Perform skin assessment on all new residents on admission and weekly on all residents.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, including physicians, physical therapists, and dietitians, to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
  • Monitor wound healing progress and evaluate treatment effectiveness, adjusting care plans as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all wound assessments, treatments, and patient progress in electronic medical records.
  • Stay informed about current wound care best practices, new treatment modalities, and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Participate in wound care quality improvement initiatives and contribute to staff education and training.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a safe and hygienic environment for wound care procedures.
  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.

Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current valid RN license in Texas.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience, with at least one year of experience in wound care.
  • Proficiency in performing wound debridement, dressing changes, and other wound care procedures.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: The physical responsibilities of this position constantly require effective bending, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. This position often involves medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned or make observations of residents and environment; close visual acuity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, operating medical equipment, reading a computer screen, reading printed material, inspection of small defects, and using measurement devices. The functions of this position are conducted in a temperature-controlled environment and not substantially exposed to adverse environment conditions and may be routinely exposed to working hazards, communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, cleaning chemicals, and odors.

INTELLECTUAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The occupant of this position must be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure. The position requires adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. This position requires the ability to deal with and find resolution to problems and maintain a productive working relationship with team members and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of others. It also requires adaptability to fluctuate between priorities daily while being responsive to needs as they arise.
