Shift: Days

Schedule: 16hours/month

Salary Range: $56.56/h-$67.87/h +18% PRN Differential

POSITION SUMMARY

The Nurse Scientist provides leadership in nursing research and knowledge translation to advance clinical excellence and improve outcomes for patients with neurological rehabilitation needs and nursing staff. This role partners with nursing staff, interdisciplinary teams, physicians, rehabilitation professionals, and organizational leaders to foster a culture of inquiry, innovation, and scholarly practice.

The Nurse Scientist works closely with the Hospital Services to develop, implement, and evaluate research that supports the hospital’s mission. This position serves as a mentor and resource for nurses and other clinicians seeking to improve patient and team member outcomes through research and the dissemination of findings.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Licensure/Certification/Registrations: Requires a current, active Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license or an active multistate license issued by a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Education: Required PhD in Nursing or a related field and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Experience: Minimum five (5) years of research experience and evidence of a sustained and established research program. Minimum three (3) years of clinical research. Experience mentoring clinicians and facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration. Preferred: Experience in developing a nursing research program.
  • Skills & Abilities: Advanced knowledge of nursing research principles and methodologies. Expertise in clinical and/or social research, and/or implementation and dissemination science. Strong project management and organizational skills. Experience with data analysis and interpretation. Ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Ability to translate complex scientific findings into clinically meaningful recommendations. Proficiency with literature searching, reference management software, and data management tools.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Lead and manage clinical research studies aligned with organizational strategic priorities.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to nursing staff developing research projects by assisting with protocol development, data collection, analysis, and dissemination activities.
  • Implement activities that align with Craig and Nursing strategic plan to advance the vision of nursing research.
  • Facilitate the translation of current evidence into clinical practice to improve patient and organizational outcomes.
  • Support nursing staff in dissemination of nursing research projects (e.g., manuscript publications, conference presentations).
  • Build organizational capacity for nursing inquiry and clinical scholarship.
  • Promote compliance with ethical, regulatory, and institutional review board (IRB) requirements.
  • Research supports hospital accreditations and designations as appropriate.
  • Maintain professional networks externally to promote program growth.
