Job Title: Academic Advising Student Worker
Department: Main Campus Academic Advising
Reports To: Associate Director of Main Campus Academic Advising / Academic Advisors

Pay: Minimum wage: $16.94

Position Overview

The Academic Advising Student Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of the Advising Office. As the first point of contact for students, this position is responsible for creating a welcoming and student-centered environment, facilitating connections between students and advisors, and providing essential administrative support. This role offers valuable professional experience in a dynamic, service-oriented setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the front desk representative by warmly greeting students, assisting with advisor connections, and ensuring proper sign-in procedures.
  • Manage student traffic flow and appointment coordination to support an efficient and organized office environment.
  • Assist students in scheduling advising appointments and provide general information about available resources and services.
  • Escort students to other campus departments when referred by Advising, such as the Center for Academic Success or Career and Professional Development.
  • Perform clerical tasks including scanning, copying, and preparing non-confidential materials to support advisors.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of office events, workshops, and student engagement activities.
  • Help maintain a clean, professional, and welcoming office space.
  • Uphold the confidentiality of student records and sensitive information at all times.
  • Complete other duties as assigned to support the Advising team.

Qualifications

  • Current Post University student in good academic and disciplinary standing.
  • Friendly, professional, and committed to creating a positive student experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage front desk operations and multitask effectively.
  • Proactive in helping students connect with advisors and campus resources.
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to maintain confidentiality.

Work Hours

Flexible scheduling based on office needs and the students’ academic and/or athletic commitments. Occasional evening hours may be required during peak advising periods or special events.
