The Role
GrizzlyTrek is hiring Excavator / Dozer Operators for our valued client in Edmonton, Alberta. The rate is $38.00 to $40.00 an hour. All hours are day shift on a 6 days on, 1 day off schedule, and the work runs through the end of October 2026.
Earthmoving in Edmonton on excavator and dozer. With the work wrapping at the end of October, the operators who fit are the ones who can climb into either machine and be productive from the first shift.
What You'll Do
  • Operate excavator and dozer on earthmoving work in Edmonton
  • Dig, load trucks, trench and backfill on the excavator
  • Strip, push, spread and level material on the dozer
  • Work to grade stakes and site direction
  • Complete pre-use inspections, walkarounds and greasing before the machine moves
  • Work safely around trucks, ground crews and other equipment
  • Take part in hazard assessments, toolbox talks and safety meetings
What You Bring
  • Verifiable seat time on excavator and dozer
  • Able to work to grade stakes and hold grade
  • Available for day shift, 6 days on and 1 day off, through the end of October 2026
  • Current safety training tickets
  • Able to meet all of the pre-employment requirements listed below
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather through the fall
Nice to Have
  • GPS machine control experience
  • Time on a third machine, such as loader, grader or rock truck
  • Civil, site prep or oilfield earthworks experience
Pre-Employment Requirements
  • Successful completion of Alcohol and Drug Screening
  • Successful completion of comprehensive Fitness-to-Work Assessment. This assessment is job-related, focusing on the physical demands and safety sensitive nature of the work, and is conducted in accordance with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements and the Alberta Human Rights Act. The assessment will cover:
    • Health History Review: A thorough examination of the candidate's health background.
    • Pre-Medical Evaluation: Measurements such as height, weight, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
    • Musculoskeletal Examination: A head-to-toe assessment to identify any limitations or concerns related to physical health.
    • Critical Strength and Mobility Test: A series of tasks assessing lifting, carrying, and positional abilities aligned with the job's physical demands (up to 50 lbs).
  • Worker to provide current safety training tickets, valid government issued identification, and CSA approved safety boots (minimum 6 inch, fully laceable)
Employment is conditional upon successfully meeting all of the pre-employment requirements listed above.
Work Environment
  • Outdoor earthmoving work through the fall, in rain, wind, mud and early cold
  • Long periods seated in the machine, plus climbing on and off equipment
  • Physical work that can include lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Noise and vibration from heavy equipment, with trucks and ground crews working nearby
Why Operators Take This Job
$38.00 to $40.00 an hour is posted up front, and where you land in that range comes down to the seat time you can show on both machines. Every hour is a day shift, so there is no night rotation to work around, and six days on puts real hours on your cheque before the work wraps at the end of October.
Pay is a gross hourly rate before deductions.
What We Offer
  • $38.00 to $40.00 per hour, based on experience
  • Overtime available based on operational requirements
  • Life insurance plus AD&D with critical illness and cancer coverage
  • Extended health and dental: drugs, hospital, vision, paramedical, mental health, child ortho
  • Travel insurance, plus ongoing training and career development support
