Job Description

Looking for Machine Operators to join our growing business as it expands into a new building in Slinger, WI.

It is preferred that the candidate have experience in operating various types of material converting machines, such as: Laminator, Slitter, Re-Roller, Digital Cutter, Vertical Saw, Skiver/Splitter, Punch Press Die Cutting, Travel Head Press, 4-post press and other material converting machines. Training will be provided such that operators are proficient in as many as 3 types of machines..

Position will report to: Plant Manager in Slinger, WI

Machine Operator Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the various manufacturing cells:

Die-Cutting - Machine Operator:

  • Reads and follows the Production Order to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
  • Positions parts against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade.
  • Observes machine operation to detect part defects or machine malfunction.
  • Produces parts to the print and works efficiently.
  • Packages parts correctly, as required.

Slitting - Machine Operator :

  • Loading log rolls
  • Setting the proper cut width
  • Unloading pancake rolls and packing

Skiving/Splitting - Machine Operator:

  • Gluing Buns
  • Setting Cut Thickness
  • Re-Rolling or stacking cut material

Digital Cutting - Machine Operator:

  • Setting up roll or sheet material to be cut
  • Running correct program from program library
  • Packing parts while monitoring material cutting

Vertical Saw - Machine Operator:

  • Cutting materials to needed dimensions
  • Squaring the bun material for gluing

Laminator - Machine Operator:

  • Load materials and adhesives per production orders
  • Set roller pressure and speed per part documentation
  • Set knives when needed
  • Set PSA unwind temperature
  • Unload finished rolls

To perform the job successfully, the Machine Operator candidate should demonstrate the following competencies:

Quantity - Meets productivity standards; Completes work in timely manner; Strives to increase productivity.

Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.

Education/Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Also desired but not required; three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to legibly write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization. English is the preferred language; Spanish is the predominant language on the production floor.

Math Ability - Addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.

Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to work through problems.

Computer Skills - Basic P/C or Windows basic interface.

Physical Demands - The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and properly use lift assist equipment for items that are heavier. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use arms/hands/fingers, walk to and from Quality or Plant Manager offices.
