Job Description

Business Development Strategist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Development Strategist based in Canada.

As a Business Development Strategist, you will turn qualified prospects into strong, long-term client partnerships within a fast-paced digital marketing environment.
You will own meaningful parts of the sales journey, from prospecting and discovery through solution development and client onboarding.
The role combines consultative selling, digital advertising expertise, strategic thinking, and relationship management.
You will work closely with technical and service specialists to develop relevant solutions aligned with each prospect’s business goals.
As an individual contributor, you will have significant ownership over opportunities, client conversations, sales processes, and growth initiatives.
You will join a remote-first culture that values curiosity, accountability, experimentation, continuous learning, and sustainable high-quality work.
This is an opportunity to directly contribute to business growth while helping ambitious organizations solve complex marketing and performance challenges.

Accountabilities:
  • Develop and advance inbound and outbound business opportunities, identifying prospects with strong potential for long-term partnerships.
  • Qualify opportunities by understanding business objectives, challenges, priorities, budgets, and potential fit.
  • Lead consultative discovery conversations and build confidence through thoughtful recommendations and clear communication.
  • Translate client needs into relevant digital advertising, performance marketing, creative, measurement, and related solutions.
  • Guide qualified prospects through the sales journey, including discovery, recommendations, proposals, presentations, decision-making, and onboarding.
  • Partner with technical and service specialists to shape solutions, communicate capabilities, and coordinate effective client handoffs.
  • Build relationships with prospective clients across e-commerce and demand-generation environments in North America and international markets.
  • Conduct outbound prospecting and develop opportunities through referrals, inbound inquiries, partner relationships, and existing-client growth conversations.
  • Maintain accurate sales information and ensure opportunities progress efficiently through the sales process.
  • Coordinate cross-functional contributions to prospective-client work and ensure expectations, timelines, and responsibilities are clearly understood.
  • Contribute sales knowledge, industry insights, resources, and best practices to strengthen team capabilities.
  • Improve sales materials, processes, and approaches based on market feedback and lessons learned.
  • During the first 30 days, build knowledge of services and sales processes, establish internal relationships, observe client conversations, and begin qualifying opportunities.
  • By 60 days, manage lower-complexity opportunities, lead client conversations, collaborate with specialists, and maintain accurate pipeline information.
  • By 90 days, own lower-to-medium complexity opportunities through onboarding while identifying opportunities to improve sales processes.
Requirements:
  • Experience working in a digital marketing agency or comparable client-services environment.
  • Proven experience supporting both e-commerce and demand-generation clients.
  • Experience selling digital advertising services or related marketing solutions.
  • Ability to translate client challenges into relevant performance marketing, creative, measurement, or digital advertising recommendations.
  • Experience working with brands across North American and international markets, with the ability to adapt your approach to different business contexts.
  • Demonstrated experience managing sales or client-growth opportunities through discovery, recommendations, proposals, presentations, and next-step decisions.
  • Experience generating opportunities through inbound inquiries, outbound prospecting, referrals, partner channels, or existing-client relationships.
  • Strong consultative selling and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish trust and communicate value effectively.
  • Experience collaborating with technical and service specialists to develop solutions and support successful client handoffs.
  • Strong communication, presentation, organization, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing opportunities, and take ownership of outcomes in a remote-first environment.
  • Curiosity, accountability, thoughtful problem-solving, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada; visa sponsorship is not provided.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday, generally within a 9 AM–5 PM schedule in your local timezone, with flexibility.
Benefits:
  • Total compensation: CAD $67,500–$97,000, including base compensation and variable OTE, subject to final review and approval.
  • Comprehensive benefits package.
  • Remote-first work environment.
  • Flexible working arrangements and hours.
  • Paid vacation and wellbeing time.
  • Health, dental, and paramedical coverage.
  • Career development support.
  • Access to internal career coaching.
  • Inclusive, diverse, and respectful workplace culture.
  • Opportunities to work with ambitious organizations across North America and international markets.
  • Ongoing learning, experimentation, and professional growth opportunities.
