Position Overview
Central Nevada Gold (CNG) seeks a highly capable Staff Geologist to support and advance near-mine and district-scale exploration programs at Mule Canyon supporting resource growth at Central Nevada Gold. This role is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and advancing gold discoveries and resource definition programs in and around Mule Canyon. The Staff Geologist will integrate geological, geochemical, geophysical, and drilling data to generate exploration targets and guide drilling programs. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, strategic exploration thinking, and proven success in advancing exploration targets from concept through drilling and resource delineation. Experience working with low-sulfidation epithermal gold systems is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
1) Exploration Strategy & Target Generation
- Generate and evaluate exploration targets at Mule Canyon and other properties of interest to support resource growth and new discoveries
- Integrate geological, geochemical, geophysical, and structural datasets to identify drill targets
- Develop and maintain district-scale geological models
- Plan and manage drilling (RC, core, metallurgical, geotechnical), including permitting, logistics, and contractor oversight.
- Identify material geological risks, opportunities, uncertainties, and verification gaps
2) Data Integration & Technical Analysis
- Enforce robust QA/QC, chain‑of‑custody, and documentation standards; maintain real‑time model updates from drilling results.
- Interpret structural controls, stratigraphy, alteration systems, and mineralization styles associated with Nevada gold deposits
- Develop and update 3D geological models to guide exploration targeting
- Work closely with resource geologists to support resource expansion and conversion
3) Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with mine geology, resource modeling, and technical services teams to support near-mine growth initiatives
- Coordinate with land, permitting, and environmental teams for drill program approvals
- Mentor junior geologists and field staff
4) Reporting & Communication
- Prepare technical reports, exploration updates, and presentations for senior management
- Support technical reporting and disclosures related to exploration results and resources
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or related discipline
- 8+ years of experience in mineral exploration
- Proven experience generating and advancing exploration targets
- Experience designing and managing mapping, sampling, geophysical, and RC and diamond drilling programs
- Strong structural geology and geological interpretation skills
- Proficiency with geological and exploration software such as:
- Leapfrog Geo
- ArcGIS
- Vulcan, Datamine, or similar
- Strong communication and technical reporting skills
- Strong project management and consultant oversight.
- Exceptional documentation discipline and attention to detail.
- Safety‑first mindset embedded in operational practices.
Preferred
- Experience exploring for or developing low-sulfidation epithermal gold deposits
- Master’s degree in Geology or related discipline
- Experience supporting resource modeling and estimation workflows
- Professional Geologist (PG) or equivalent certification
- Experience working in Nevada exploration environments
