Job Description
Who We Are
Since 1981, Mesa Systems has delivered reliable relocation services locally, coast-to-coast, and internationally. Built on the principles of Pride. Respect. Trust. (PRT), we take pride in our work, respect our customers and each other, and trust our teams to deliver at the highest level every time.
As we continue to grow and expand, we are looking for strong operational leaders to drive performance, build teams, and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
The Role
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall performance of a Mesa branch, including revenue growth, operational execution, financial performance, and team leadership.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who can drive results, lead people, and operate the business end-to-end. The GM is accountable for delivering profitable growth while maintaining a strong culture aligned with Mesa's PRT values.
The ideal candidate will have experience leading full-service moving and storage operations, including household goods relocations, interstate transportation, warehousing, customer service, and profitability management within a multi-service branch environment.
What Success Looks Like
• Branch consistently meets or exceeds revenue and profitability targets
• Operations run efficiently with high customer satisfaction scores
• Interstate, local, and commercial moves are executed safely, profitably, and on schedule
• Claims frequency and severity are minimized through operational excellence
• Strong team engagement with low turnover in key roles
• Safety and compliance standards are consistently met
• Customer relationships are strengthened, resulting in increased repeat and referral business
• You are viewed as a leader of leaders, not just a manager
What We're Looking For
• 7-15+ years of leadership experience in operations, logistics, transportation, moving & storage, or service-based industries
• Proven success managing a P&L of $20M+ and driving business performance
• Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
• Strong problem-solving, planning, and decision-making capabilities
• Demonstrated ability to lead through change while maintaining operational stability and employee engagement
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience managing full-service household goods relocation operations, including packing, transportation, storage, destination services, customer service, and claims management
• Experience overseeing interstate household goods relocations, including dispatch, driver management, van line agency operations, DOT compliance, and service execution
• Working knowledge of HHG industry regulations, operational best practices, tariff structures, and customer service standards
• Experience managing warehouse operations, fleet operations, labor planning, and operational scheduling
• Knowledge of household goods transportation and van line systems, including experience with United Van Lines, Mayflower, Atlas, Allied, North American, or similar agency networks preferred
• Experience in moving & storage, logistics, transportation, relocation services, or a related industry strongly preferred
Leadership Competencies
• Ownership and accountability for results
• Strong financial and business acumen
• Customer-first decision making
• Operational discipline and execution
• Talent development and leadership
• Effective communication and collaboration
• Strategic thinking with a bias for action
• Commitment to safety, compliance, and quality
• Alignment with Mesa's Pride, Respect, and Trust values
Why Mesa
• Opportunity to lead and grow a business with real ownership and accountability
• Direct impact on branch performance, culture, and customer satisfaction
• Be part of a company that values people, performance, and culture
• Work in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment with opportunities for career advancement
• Lead a team committed to operational excellence and exceptional customer service
• Culture grounded in Pride. Respect. Trust.
