HR Specialist-Employee Relations (2nd shift)

DaikyoNishikawa USA, Inc. is a Tier 1 supplier for Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, located on Mazda Toyota’s campus in Madison, Alabama. We are looking for a HR Specialist (2nd shift) to join our team!

The HR Specialist-Employee Relations (2nd shift) performs complex and confidential employee relations functions involving considerable independent judgment; provides guidance and support to department heads, group leaders, and employees regarding employee relations matters like workplace concerns, performance issues, grievances, disciplinary procedures, and application of policies per the Employee Handbook. The HR Specialist assists in promoting positive working relationships and consistent, fair, and legally compliant personnel practices throughout the organization.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Building and maintaining positive employee relations - Serves as a primary point of contact for employees and leadership regarding employee relations concerns and workplace issues; collaborates with the team to identify appropriate resolutions and advises and counsels management on all employee relations matters.
  • Developing and implementing employee engagement strategies - Supports employee engagement and retention by proactively identifying and addressing workplace concerns, morale, performance, and other department specific needs; provides feedback and recommendations to leadership and assists in implementing Kaizen strategies.
  • Policy Communication and Confidentiality - Communicates company policies, procedures, notices, and relevant updates while maintaining confidentiality of employee and company information in accordance with applicable laws and company policies.
  • General Affairs support - Supports general affairs activities including processing invoices; coordinating travel arrangements for local or visiting employees and/or visitors.
  • Systems and Reporting Support - Uses Excel and HRIS to gather, interpret, and track HR data related to department KPIs while maintaining accurate employee records.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources management, particularly employee relations in the automotive manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of HR administration, onboarding, benefits, policy communication, confidentiality requirements, HRIS systems, and other technical systems.
  • Ability to investigate, analyze, and resolve employee relations issues and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive and complex employee relations matters.
  • Ability to gather, interpret, and track HR data related to department KPIs using Excel and HRIS.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle multiple complex matters independently and exercise sound judgment in determining appropriate courses of action.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to work 2nd shift (3pm-11:45pm) Monday through Friday.
Other Duties:
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management to support administrative operations.
Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labor Relations, or a closely related field and two (2) years of professional human resources or employee relations experience.Preferred:
  • SHRM or HRCI certifications

  • The ability to walk, stand, turn, climb, kneel, sit for extended periods, reach, lift, carry, push, talk, hear and see.
  • The ability to use an office phone, cell phone, photocopier, computer keyboard, laptop and other electronic business tools and related software.
  • Mental requirements include, but are not limited to, the ability to concentrate, analyze information, prioritize tasks, and exercise sound judgment in performing job responsibilities.
  • Will often enter manufacturing areas and be exposed to noise, dust, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
