Job Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Starting Salary: $46,800/year (Higher salary available depending on experience)
We are seeking a Railcar Repairman to perform maintenance, repair, fabrication, and welding work on railroad cars while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
This is a 24/7 emergency response position supporting railroad operations. The role requires flexibility and availability for emergency call-outs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform maintenance, repair, welding, and fabrication on railcars while meeting safety and quality standards.
- Prepare and inspect work vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials before and after job assignments.
- Participate in job briefings and actively promote a strong safety culture.
- Work collaboratively with team members to complete projects safely and efficiently.
- Maintain professional relationships with customers and coworkers.
- Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Clean, restock, and organize equipment, vehicles, and job sites.
- Follow all required policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- AWS welding certification required.
- Technical expertise in welding and fabrication.
- Knowledge of freight car components.
- Knowledge of the AAR Field Manual.
- Knowledge of railroad industry safety regulations, including Blue Flag Law and FRA standards.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow safety policies and maintain a professional work ethic.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications, including:
- CPR
- First Aid
- E-Rail Safe
- CSX On-Track Safety
- 24/7 emergency response role with on-call availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Frequent travel and changing work assignments.
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Physically demanding work requiring standing, walking on uneven surfaces, bending, lifting, and carrying.
- Regularly lift up to 50 lbs.; heavier loads require assistance.
- Extended work hours may be required based on operational needs.
