Job Description
Position Summary
The Medication Technician supports resident health, safety, and well-being through accurate medication administration and attentive, resident-centered care within an assisted living and/or memory care community.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Administer medications in accordance with authorized orders, medication schedules, applicable regulations, and community procedures.
• Accurately document medication administration, refusals, omissions, and other required information in the medication record.
• Observe residents for changes in condition, side effects, adverse reactions, or concerns and promptly report findings to the appropriate licensed clinical team member.
• Maintain proper storage, security, inventory control, and handling of medications and medication supplies.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, pharmacies, healthcare providers, and community team members as appropriate.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living and other care needs when assigned and permitted.
• Maintain resident, employee, and company confidentiality in accordance with applicable privacy requirements and company policy.
• Follow community policies, safety practices, infection prevention procedures, and applicable local, state, and federal requirements.
• Participate in required training, in-services, meetings, and emergency preparedness activities.
• Provide respectful, resident-centered service and work collaboratively with residents, families, visitors, coworkers, vendors, and healthcare partners.
• Perform other duties as assigned based on community needs and within the scope of the position.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent, as required.
• Strong attention to detail, documentation, and medication safety.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a care team.
Preferred Experience & Skills
• Previous assisted living, memory care, long-term care, or related healthcare experience preferred.
Physical & Work Requirements
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, stoop, and perform the physical functions of the position for extended periods as needed.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or assist with weight appropriate to the essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work in a senior living environment and respond appropriately to routine and emergency situations.
