Role Responsibilities:
The primary role of the on-site Commercial Support Specialist is to make a difference in our members’ financial lives by providing the highest-quality service. This position is responsible for boarding, funding, servicing commercial loans and relationships, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and internal requirements, and providing stellar customer support.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Member Service: Provide outstanding service to internal and external members as defined by our BRIGHT Service value proposition. Develop and retain strong relationships with members, investors, and business partners.
- Loan Boarding: Input and fund new commercial loans promptly with complete and accurate data to ensure proper loan service.
- Loan Processing: Work closely with the Vice President of Commercial Lending and current/prospective members in the loan origination process, including collecting a complete loan package for submission to underwriting.
- Loan Closing & Document Review: Coordinating commercial loan closings and reviewing loan closing documents for completeness and consistency with loan approval specifications.
- File Management: Maintain current information in the loan servicing system for contacts, vendors, annual reviews, and other necessary fields.
- Relationship Management: Act as the primary contact person for business members regarding commercial loan servicing and depository account inquiries, including but not limited to establishing new member accounts.
- Quality Control: Undertake other loan servicing duties, such as quality control, title perfection, mortgage satisfaction, and payoff requests. *Note: Additional duties and responsibilities are as needed based on departmental and organizational needs.
Minimum Expectation of Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience: Minimum of three years of experience in the commercial loan processes. Strong knowledge of commercial loan documents and regulatory requirements; experience with FICS Servicing System preferred.
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications or further education in finance or business is a plus. Interpersonal Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, effectively engaging with business owners and senior management.
Compliance:
- Employees must uphold the credit union's compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering policies and procedures. Specific functions with B.S.C.U. will consider the awareness of unusual or suspicious activity relevant to the department.
- In addition to any other assigned training courses, online B.S.A. and O.F.A.C. courses must be completed at least annually, as made available by the Training and Compliance Department.
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, U.S.A. Patriot Act, O.F.A.C., Fair Lending, and Credit Card Act.
