Sovereign IDP Expert

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Sovereign IDP Expert in Italy.

As a Sovereign IDP Expert, you will play a key role in designing, deploying, and optimizing secure cloud infrastructures within highly regulated and sovereign cloud environments across Europe. This position combines technical leadership, cloud architecture expertise, and advisory responsibilities to support mission-critical public sector initiatives. You will collaborate with architects, project managers, and cloud specialists to deliver scalable infrastructure solutions, reusable platform components, and innovative cloud services. Working in a fully remote environment, you will contribute to the development of Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs), guide cloud adoption strategies, and help organizations navigate complex compliance and regulatory requirements. This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale cloud transformation projects while leveraging cutting-edge technologies and sovereign cloud ecosystems.

Accountabilities
  • Design, document, deploy, and maintain infrastructure stacks using the Cycloid platform and related cloud technologies.
  • Develop proofs of concept (PoCs), prototypes, and cloud-based solutions to validate new infrastructure and platform capabilities.
  • Create reusable cloud components and templates that improve scalability, consistency, and operational efficiency.
  • Advise stakeholders on selecting appropriate cloud providers, services, and architectures based on technical, operational, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Service Managers, Solution Architects, and technical teams to address functional and compliance-related challenges.
  • Deliver and configure new cloud accounts while ensuring alignment with governance and security standards.
  • Support cloud platforms, Internal Developer Platform (IDP) components, and integrations with broader enterprise services.
  • Participate in project coordination activities, technical workshops, investigations, and architecture reviews.
  • Contribute to workload planning and coordinate activities across Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) teams.
  • Provide expert guidance on sovereign cloud adoption, cloud operations, and infrastructure best practices.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience designing, configuring, and leading the administration of large-scale AWS and/or Azure environments.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience with a sovereign cloud provider such as Clever Cloud, STACKIT, Scaleway, S3NS, or comparable sovereign cloud platforms.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience working with Cycloid.
  • Strong knowledge of sovereign cloud environments, including Azure Sovereign Cloud, AWS European Sovereign Cloud, Google Sovereign Cloud, GAIA-X initiatives, and EU cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Experience designing cloud-native architectures, automation frameworks, infrastructure-as-code solutions, and platform engineering environments.
  • University degree corresponding to EQF Level 7 (Master’s degree or equivalent), or EQF Level 6 (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) supplemented by additional relevant professional experience as required.
  • Strong understanding of cloud governance, compliance, security, and regulatory requirements within European public sector environments.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently in distributed international teams and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • English proficiency at B2 level or higher, both written and spoken.
Benefits
  • Fully remote position based in Europe with flexibility to work from your preferred location.
  • Opportunity to contribute to high-impact cloud and digital transformation projects within highly regulated environments.
  • Exposure to leading sovereign cloud initiatives, advanced cloud technologies, and platform engineering practices.
  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary international teams and public sector stakeholders.
  • Occasional business travel arranged and covered when required by project needs.
  • Continuous learning opportunities through complex cloud architecture and innovation projects.
  • Competitive compensation aligned with the applicable public-sector grading framework and candidate experience level.
  • Long-term project stability within large-scale European technology initiatives.
  • Flexible and autonomous work environment that supports work-life balance.
