About the Role: Partners with the Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation medical staff team to provide best-in-class health care to residents of the Bristol Bay area. Functions as a staff physician in one or more of the following service lines: outpatient, emergency department, inpatient (16 bed CAH), and /or village clinics. Maintains safe, high standards of care and culturally appropriate medical services for all patients.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in a relevant medical specialty.
  • Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in the United States.
  • Board certification or eligibility in the chosen specialty.
  • Strong knowledge of medical ethics, patient confidentiality, and healthcare regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fellowship training or additional certifications in subspecialties relevant to the practice area.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telemedicine platforms.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing medical education and professional development.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and community health settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed patient histories and physical examinations to assess health status and identify medical conditions.
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests such as blood work, imaging studies, and other relevant procedures.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatments as necessary to achieve optimal health outcomes.
  • Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Provide patient education on disease prevention, medication management, and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Stay current with medical research, advancements, and best practices to continually improve patient care.

Skills:

The required skills enable the Physician to accurately diagnose and treat a broad spectrum of medical conditions through critical thinking and clinical expertise. Effective communication skills are essential for explaining complex medical information to patients and collaborating with healthcare teams. Proficiency in using electronic health records and diagnostic tools ensures efficient and accurate documentation and patient management. Preferred skills such as multilingual abilities and telemedicine experience enhance patient access and care delivery in diverse and evolving healthcare environments. Continuous learning and adaptability allow the Physician to stay abreast of medical advancements and integrate new knowledge into daily practice for improved patient outcomes.

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Provides supervision for clinical personnel. This may include medical students, residents, advanced practice providers, and community health aides.

SUPERVISED BY: Functions with minimal direction under the supervision of the Chief of Staff and/or Chief Medical Officer. Has considerable freedom to exercise professional and independent judgment. Work is viewed in terms of quality of care provided through focused and ongoing professional peer evaluation.
