BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Cybersecurity Engineer - Intern will be assigned to the IT Security team. Under direct supervision, the Cybersecurity Engineer – Intern works to effectively plan, install, maintain, and support security of the hospital’s internal and external networks, related network systems, services, and applications.

Minimum Education: High School diploma required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Required to be highly engaged and proactive
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to learn quickly with aptitude for the development of technical and problem-solving skills
- Must be a current college student studying Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, Cybersecurity or related field. Junior or senior year college student preferred.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs specialized technical duties of low complexity to ensure the organization’s information systems are not compromised.
- Assists with secure system setup, deployment, and on-going security maintenance.
- Assists with planning and implementation of data security for new or modified applications and workflows.
- Responsible for ensuring the creation, modification, and termination of user accounts is effectively managed in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoots and optimizes the hospital’s security posture.
- Monitors, identifies, and reports non-compliance with Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital information security policies to IT Management for analysis and review.
- Assists with security investigations by participating in the Incident Response plan.
- Assists in the implementation of approved countermeasures to reduce the risk of current and future system exploits and vulnerabilities.
- Applies latest industry standards and technology to projects.
- Understand and comply with basic concepts of systems change management.
- Follows all Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital Information Security policies and procedures.
- Meets response time targets and engages other team members when necessary.
- Maintains accurate and thorough documentation, policies, and procedures.
- Ensures the ongoing integration of Information Security with business strategies, requirements, and operations.
- Assists in providing access control, disaster recovery, business continuity, incident response, and risk management needs of the organization.
- Coordinates Information Security awareness and training initiatives.
- Assists with ongoing Information Security risk assessments and audits to ensure that information systems are adequately protected and meet regulatory requirements.
- Works with vendors, outside consultants, and other third parties to maintain and improve Information Security within the organization.
- Perform duties as requested by Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital leadership.
- Assists with implementing, managing, and enforcing Information Security directives as mandated by regulatory requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS-Note: Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
- Light lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 10-20 lbs occasionally and frequent moving of objects of less than 10 lbs is required. Frequent sitting with some walking, standing, squatting, bending and reaching is required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
