WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Systems Manager – Health, Environmental, Safety, and Security (HES&S)

We have a great opportunity for a Systems Manager with our Health, Environmental, Safety, and Security Team (HES&S). The Systems Manager leads the development of HES&S-related management systems and systems safety programs that enable the organization to perform its mission in alignment with regulatory, FEFs HES&S requirements, and industry best practices. The Systems Manager supports routine work and projects planning and execution, providing general HES&S expertise, verifying that safeguards are in place, and validating that they are functioning. The position will be based in Livermore, CA, with direct field support to the San Francisco Bay Area operations and general HES&S support for the entire company.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Lead the development of FEF’s HES&S Management System.
  • Provide Technical and administrative support for compliance with the California Accidental Release Prevention program level 3 and Cal OSHA process safety management.
  • Lead selected incidents and successful events reviews and assist with action implementation.
  • Represent EHS&S in operational and project safety hazard assessments, MOC reviews, and systems assessments, including HAZOP, WHAT IF, and FMEA.
  • Provide expertise in safety, health, environmental, and security programs for regular operations, construction, and research and development projects.
  • Represent the company in select industry organizations and technical committees.
  • Lead emergency planning, response, and engagements with external stakeholders.
  • Support the development of HES&S competence programs and the delivery of specific training.
  • Plan and conduct verification and validation inspections and audits.
  • Lead or participate as a team member in diverse projects that enable the execution of the company's EHS&S risk management strategy.
Requirements:

REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an EHS&S-related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience performing an HES&S role with direct responsibility for implementing and monitoring compliance with regulations and industry standards.
  • At least one year of experience in a regulated industry in a role with direct involvement with OSHA Process Safety Management or EPA Risk Management Plan, Federal or California-specific.
  • Solid knowledge of EHS&S-related management systems (ANSI Z10, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or OSHA VPP)
  • Experience leading HES&S-related audits and engaging with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies.
  • Flexibility to perform a combination of diverse HES&S management, technical, and clerical tasks.

DESIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Internal auditor certification in ISO 14001 or 45001, or experience as an implementation leader of ANSI Z10 or OSHA VPP.
  • Active member in a HES&S or industry professional organization.
  • Hold an advanced degree in the HES&S field.
  • Hold a credential or certificate program from BCSP, NFPA, AIHA, IHMM, AIChE, or other recognized organization that can benefit the performance of the Systems Manager role.

SCHEDULE + BENEFITS:

  • Travel time: Occasional overnight travel once or twice per quarter. It is anticipated that 20% to 40% of the work time will be spent visiting facilities in the San Francisco Bay Area to engage with workers in the field.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000 to $160,000 + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work locations and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only and do not include any bonus or benefits.
