About This Position
SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Program Director the Program Manager is responsible for the ongoing services, supports, and daily operations of one or more of the Agency’s 24hour residential programs. This includes supervising direct care staff assigned to the programs, staff scheduling, implementation and enforcement of all Agency’s programs, policies, and procedures. Additional duties include, but are not limited to direct daily care to individuals in the program(s). participation in and support to our on-call system, quality enhancement, and daily care for the individuals we serve.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for the direct supervision of clients, always knowing their status and location; protecting client rights, and report incidents of abuse, neglect, and mistreatment.
- Manage, motivate, develop, and engage employees. This includes participation in performance reviews and management.
- Participate and assist with the development of goals for individual client plans of service. Ensuring that all needs and goals identified are implemented and met by all employees of the Agency.
- Assist, the Program Director with staff scheduling.
- Assist the Program Director in managing incident and accident reporting. To include proper Agency, state, and federal documentation.
- Coordinate, maintain, and monitor for routine and emergency household responsibilities and repairs.
- Responsible for training direct care staff to provide therapeutic, habilitative care to the individuals we serve.
- Oversee monthly recreation and community participation activities developed by the assistant manager.
- Administer medications as prescribed; provide routine health care and first aid.
- Oversee and ensure all areas of the residences/programs are kept in a clean and organized state; including, but not limited to, program equipment. individual client’s personal items, kitchen, laundry, etc.
- Transport clients to and from designated activities and programs.
- Oversee, conduct and participate in fire and evacuation drills as required by DDS and Agency policy.
- Provide 24-hour emergency coverage in the absence of the Program Director, and according to on call coverage schedule.
- Ensure accurate recording keeping of all required documentation. This includes but is not limited to individual goals, program petty cash account and individual client cash on hand accounts.
- Maintain all required certifications (i.e., medication administration) and trainings to effectively perform job duties.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:
- Assist with onboarding of new employees.
- Train direct care staff in protection of client’s rights and ensure all staff complete and attend required trainings for their job duties.
- Plan and organize programs to train staff in implementing programs, and daily living activities with the clients.
- Assist the Program Director to coordinate the medical needs for individuals in the program. This includes, but is not limited to meeting with nurses, doctors, and attending medical appointments.
TEAMWORK:
Attend required staff meetings and actively participate in in-services and trainings.
Maintain required trainings for the position as required by DDS and Agency.
Work cooperatively with Clinical Director, Consultants, families, and other agencies in providing and implementing individual client goals.
Work cooperatively with supervisory and other staff within the Agency and those from other agencies.
Requirements:COMPETENCIES:
Successful completion of Medication Certification program
Successful completion of PMT, CPR and First Aide training program
Valid CT. drivers license with a satisfactory driving record
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and two years experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and or behavior issues; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret English documents such as safety rules, maintenance instructions, medical reports and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Able to interpret data and develop and interpret graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables.
