About This Position


Situated within the shared, unceded territory of the L̓il̓wat7úl (Líl̓wat People) and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish People), the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) is a vibrant destination resort community, local government organization and leader in providing municipal programs, services, progressive planning, and infrastructure. The RMOW is a high-performance municipal organization and significant tourism economy serving a community of 15,000 permanent residents and over three million annual visitors. The Village Events & Animation department has an opportunity for individuals to apply for a casual position as Village Host Program Assistant. Reporting to the Village Host Program Coordinator, this position offers a regular schedule of up to 42 - 48 hours bi-weekly, starting in June 2026, to the end of September 2026. The required shifts are varied and include evenings and weekends. There may also be an opportunity for the position to continue into the winter months.

The role of the Village Host Assistant is to welcome guests to Whistler by providing recommendations and advice at the Information kiosk located in the beautiful Whistler Olympic Plaza. Village Host staff work together to offer a kind welcome to resort guests and deliver friendly customer service experience in a fun, and professional manner.

Qualified candidates possess a grade 12 diploma supplemented by at least 6 months' experience in a guest service role. Candidates should be familiar with resort businesses, community organizations, and events, and have knowledge of RMOW programs. The work location is at The Olympic Plaza information kiosk, and candidates should be physically able and comfortable working in an outdoor setting in all weather conditions. This role requires the ability to lift to 10kg and move promotional and marketing materials to kiosks. Strong computer skills are considered an asset.

The successful candidate has an approachable and helpful demeanor and enjoys engaging with the public, combined with active listening skills and the ability to work independently. Candidates should have a commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace within their team; to building effective working relationships with others; and to contributing to a positive teamwork environment. The starting wage for this job is $22.45 per hour. In addition to the hourly wage, causal employees at the RMOW receive 12% of their regular earnings in lieu of employee benefits.

As a requirement of the position, the successful applicant must obtain a satisfactory Police Information Check prior to beginning employment.
