Position Purpose
The purpose of this position is to implement laundry procedures to operate the laundry department in a cost-effective, efficient manner to safely meet residents’ needs in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
Essential Job Functions – Principal Accountabilities
- Collects and sorts soiled laundry. Inspects for resident items (e.g., hearing aide, dentures, etc.)
- Performs stain removal when necessary.
- Loads and operates washers and dryers.
- Folds and sorts laundered items
- Uses laundry supplies efficiently.
- Assists in proper care of laundry equipment. Identify and report any equipment malfunction to supervisor
- Implements laundry procedures to meet residents’ needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements
- Participates in the monitoring system for the laundry department.
- Notifies supervisor when supplies are needed.
- Notifies supervisor when equipment needs repair.
- Notifies supervisor when linen and residents’ clothing need repair.

- May be exposed to excessive heat in laundry.
- Stand, traverse, ascend/descend stairs, move/transport carts weighing over 100 pounds, grasp and manipulate tools/equipment to perform cleaning functions. Occasionally move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Stretch, bend, stoop, squat, twist, crouch, kneel, and balance to load and unload washers and dryers and to access equipment and supplies.
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Converse with others, write legibly, read and comprehend written/verbal information.
- Lift and carry up to 35 pounds frequently; up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Stand and walk frequently, simple grasp; fine hand manipulation; near vision; far vision; hear conversation; speak
Minimum Requirements
Education: High school diploma or GED, or equivalent is required.
Experience: Experience performing the essential functions of the position is desirable.
