The Pharmacist supports central pharmacy and infusion operations by delivering clinical oversight, operational coordination, and evidence-based medication management within the ambulatory care setting. This role collaborates closely with providers and interdisciplinary teams to optimize infusion therapies and specialty medication services. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining treatment protocols, order sets, and clinical pathways to ensure safe, standardized, and compliant care delivery. The pharmacist conducts cost analyses and financial evaluations of therapies, assisting in formulary management, drug utilization review, and strategic purchasing decisions to promote both clinical effectiveness and cost efficiency. The position also supports workflow optimization, ensures regulatory compliance, oversees medication preparation and distribution processes, and serves as a key clinical and operational resource for providers and staff. Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills are essential to driving high-quality patient outcomes and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical oversight and support for central pharmacy and infusion services.
- Implement and maintain evidence-based treatment protocols and order sets.
- Review, verify, and manage medication therapy plans to ensure safety and efficacy.
- Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary teams to optimize medication selection, dosing, monitoring parameters, and therapeutic outcomes.
- Conduct drug utilization reviews and ensure adherence to formulary guidelines and evidence-based practices.
- Perform cost analyses, reimbursement evaluations, and financial assessments to support formulary decisions and sustainable infusion operations.
- Assist with medication procurement strategies, inventory management, and vendor coordination to ensure cost-effective purchasing and supply continuity.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards related to medication preparation, compounding, storage, dispensing, and documentation.
- Oversee and provide guidance to pharmacy technicians and infusion staff to maintain safe and efficient practices.
- Serve as a clinical and operational resource for providers and clinic staff members
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and performance monitoring related to infusion and pharmacy services.
- Provide education and training to clinical and operational staff regarding medication protocols, safety practices, and new therapies.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
