About This Position

Position Description: Position: Maintenance / Engineer (Limited-Service Hotel)
Reports To: General Manager / Assistant General Manager Department: Maintenance / Engineering / Guest Services Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Position Summary

The Maintenance / Engineer is responsible for maintaining the overall condition, safety, and functionality of the hotel facility in a limited-service hotel environment. This role supports guest satisfaction by ensuring guest rooms, public areas, building systems, and recreational amenities are well maintained, operational, and compliant with hotel brand standards, safety regulations, and company policies.

Primary Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff.
Perform basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting tasks.
Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment and building systems.
Inspect property regularly to identify safety hazards or maintenance needs.
Maintain swimming pool and spa areas, if applicable, including monitoring chemical levels, water quality, and equipment operation in accordance with local health department regulations.
Ensure pool and spa facilities are clean, safe, and operational, and report any issues or closures to management promptly.
Maintain proper records of maintenance work performed, pool/spa logs, and supplies used.
Coordinate with outside vendors and licensed contractors as needed.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, OSHA requirements, brand guidelines, and pool/spa regulations.
Assist with seasonal maintenance, snow removal, and grounds upkeep as required.
Support emergency response efforts related to facility or equipment issues.
Assist with opening and closing duties and other tasks as assigned.
All other duties as assigned.

Guest Experience Expectations
Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for guests and staff.
Ensure pool and spa areas, if applicable, are maintained to provide a positive guest experience.
Respond to maintenance issues promptly to minimize guest impact.
Interact with guests in a courteous and professional manner.

Qualifications & Requirements
Prior maintenance or engineering experience preferred; hotel experience a plus.
Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repair tasks.
Knowledge of pool and spa maintenance procedures preferred; ability to obtain required pool operator certifications if applicable.
Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as required.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical labor.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Physical & Work Environment
Standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting for extended periods.
Exposure to weather conditions, noise, chemicals, and mechanical equipment.
Indoor and outdoor hotel environment including pool and spa areas.
Professional Standards
Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with hotel grooming and uniform standards.
Demonstrate reliability, accountability, and attention to detail.
