Job Overview
Under the guidance of the Director of Pharmacy Care Operations, the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor provides both administrative and operational leadership to the pharmacy technician team, including Lead Pharmacy Technicians. This role is responsible for supervising pharmacy technicians, managing schedules and daily staffing, hiring, performance management, completing performance evaluations, overseeing ongoing training, ensuring regulatory compliance and contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of the pharmacy in accordance with regulatory requirements. This Pharmacy Technician Supervisor reports directly to the Director of Pharmacy Care.
Job Responsibilities
- Act as a key escalation point for operational and patient care issues, exercising sound judgment to resolve concerns independently or escalate through appropriate channels.
- Oversee and coordinate daily activities of pharmacy technicians and lead technicians, ensuring streamlined workflows that support high quality pharmacy services.
- Optimize staffing, productivity, and service quality by managing scheduling, timekeeping, paid time off (PTO). Manage staffing coverage to ensure continuity of pharmacy operations, especially during peak periods. Independently manage projects and routine administrative and operational tasks with a high degree of accuracy, efficiency, and minimal supervision.
- Support the development, implementation, and delivery of training programs and workflow improvements to enhance operational performance and ensure technician competency.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with pharmacists, leadership, and other departments to align daily operations with strategic goals and drive continuous improvement.
- Lead effective team communications, including regular 1:1s and huddles; maintain up-to-date training documentation and support performance management efforts to foster a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Monitor workflow for accuracy, efficiency, and compliance, ensuring adherence to SOPs, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide timely and transparent communication to leadership, including updates on performance metrics, staffing challenges, and opportunities for process optimization.
- Enforce HR policies and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) consistently, promoting a fair, compliant, and professional work environment.
- 5+ years as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT), with a currently active Virginia pharmacy technician license
- Excellent customer service skills
- Experience with retail, mail order or LTC pharmacy data entry and pharmacy dispensing software strongly preferred
- Experience with Parata or other pharmacy automation systems preferred
- Knowledge of pharmacy laws and federal and state regulations concerning patient care
- Strong communication (written and verbal) skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Mosaic Pharmacy Services employee for at least 12 months
- Leadership skills, specifically people leadership
- Excellent working knowledge of workflow and pharmacy operations
- Excellent Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving Skills
