Job Identification
The Division Vice President provides executive leadership over multi-site operations, including ready-mix concrete production, fleet management, dispatch, logistics, finance, and sales alignment across multiple plants and markets. This role holds full P&L responsibility and drives strategic planning, operational scalability, and EBITDA growth while ensuring alignment with corporate objectives. The VP leads business transformation initiatives, optimizes organizational design, and delivers continuous improvement across all locations.
Description
• Develop and execute strategic planning initiatives to support market expansion, revenue growth, and margin optimization within the ready-mix concrete and construction materials industry. Identify opportunities for acquisitions, greenfield plant development, and capacity expansion while aligning operations with long-term business objectives.
• Provide multi-site leadership across ready-mix plant operations, ensuring consistency in batching, production planning, quality control, dispatch optimization, and customer service. Drive operational efficiency through KPI development, performance management, and data analytics, focusing on yardage production, on-time delivery, and truck cycle times.
• Oversee fleet management strategy, including mixer truck utilization, DOT compliance, preventive maintenance programs, and asset lifecycle management. Ensure effective logistics coordination, route optimization, and dispatch systems (e.g., Command Alkon or similar ERP/dispatch platforms).
• Direct quality control and technical operations, ensuring compliance with ASTM standards, mix design specifications, and customer requirements. Promote innovation in mix design optimization, sustainable materials, and process improvements while maintaining accurate testing, reporting, and data tracking.
• Own financial performance across all locations, including budgeting and forecasting, cost control, capital expenditures, and financial analysis. Drive profitability through cost reduction strategies, procurement optimization, and improved operational efficiency while maintaining service and quality standards.
• Foster a strong safety culture across all operations, ensuring OSHA and environmental compliance, DOT regulations, and proactive risk management. Partner with the safety team to reduce incidents and implement continuous safety improvements.
• Collaborate with sales leadership to strengthen key account management, improve customer retention, and support contract negotiation and pricing strategies. Ensure alignment between sales and operations to deliver consistent, high-quality service and meet project demands.
• Oversee supply chain management, including procurement of aggregates, cement, admixtures, and other raw materials. Build strategic vendor relationships, manage inventory levels, and ensure material availability to support production demands.
• Lead organizational development by mentoring regional managers, plant managers, and senior leaders. Drive talent development, succession planning, and performance management while fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
• Represent the organization in industry associations, community engagement, and regulatory interactions while maintaining awareness of market trends, competitive positioning, and emerging technologies in construction materials.
Additional Expectations
• Deep understanding of safety standards, regulatory compliance, and best operational practices within the industry
• Ability to travel regularly between multiple locations to ensure alignment, performance, and leadership presence
• Availability to support business needs in a dynamic, multi-site operational environment
Physical Demands
• Lift 80 pounds, including but not limited to lift chutes and other related CMV/job related items
• Able to regularly climb heights of up 13 feet on a ready-mix truck, using the truck steps and ladder, work on a truck catwalk at an elevated height, in a ready-mix truck you must step down into the truck cab
• May be required to climb ladders and catwalks that may be between 6-110 feet above the ground
• Ability to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, and crawl
Environmental Conditions
• Must be able to tolerate, with or without accommodation:
o Exposure to extreme weather conditions
o High noise levels and significant vibrations associated with construction equipment and overall job site activities
o Walking and working of varied rough terrain conditions
• May be exposed to construction related chemicals, this environment can include, but is not limited to, dust and other typical industrial conditions
Requirements
• Valid State-Issued Driver’s License, Class A or B, preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field or MBA, preferred
• 10–15+ years of progressive leadership experience in ready-mix, aggregates, or heavy construction materials
• Proven experience managing multi-site operations with full P&L responsibility
• Deep knowledge of ready-mix production, fleet logistics, dispatch systems, and quality control processes
• Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost management
• Demonstrated leadership in safety and regulatory compliance (OSHA, DOT, environmental standards)
• Excellent executive communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
• Candidates must be willing and able to undergo a pre-employment background check, MVR overview, physical/DOT (if applicable) and drug/alcohol testing. Ongoing compliance is required.
