Qualifications
The PMIS/PIM Systems Engineer III is a senior technical role responsible for the governance, configuration, integration, and advancement is a senior technical role responsible for the configuration, governance, and continuous improvement of enterprise Project Management Information Systems (PMIS) and engineering data environments. This position focuses on internal project information platforms, ensuring that engineering and project teams can securely manage, control, and retrieve information across the full project lifecycle.
Partnering closely with digital delivery, digital solutions, IT Operation & Infrastructure, enterprise applications, and external vendors, this position defines and executes AEC platform modernization strategies, supports strategic pursuits, and drives advanced platform and data integration capabilities to enable future service offerings such as digital twins, DaaS, automation, and AI-enabled workflows. The role operates with broad discretion, influencing outcomes through technical leadership, governance, and cross-functional collaboration rather than positional authority.
Essential Functions
PMIS & Engineering Information Systems
- Lead the configuration, administration, and optimization of PMIS and Engineering Data Management Systems (EDMS)
- Define and enforce project information standards, including folder structures, metadata, naming conventions, permissions, and lifecycle controls
- Ensure system reliability, performance, and scalability across multiple concurrent projects and environments
- Partner with project managers and engineering leadership to define digital execution strategies for pursuits and active projects, including system architecture, hosting models, access controls, and data governance standards.
Data Integrity, Security & Compliance
- Govern data integrity, access control, and document lifecycle management to support audit readiness and regulatory compliance
- Partner with IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure PMIS environments meet security, quality, and compliance requirements (e.g., regulated or highly controlled project environments)
- Support configuration management and quality documentation requirements through controlled information workflows
System Integration & Cloud Operations
- Oversee cloud-hosted PMIS/EDMS environments, including migrations, upgrades, and operational support in collaboration with internal IT operations, infrastructure, enterprise application and architecture teams
- Coordinate system integrations and interfaces between engineering authoring tools and PMIS platforms, ensuring reliable data exchange without disrupting project execution
- Monitor system usage, performance, and support queues to drive continuous improvement and operational stability
Governance, Training & Internal Enablement
- Develop and maintain PMIS governance documentation, standards, and best practices
- Provide internal training and guidance to Digital Delivery Teams, Project Delivery Leaders, and Technical Leaders to ensure system adoption and compliance
- Serve as the internal escalation point for complex PMIS and data management issues
- Act as a trusted advisor and primary liaison between engineering, IT, project controls, vendors, and clients to resolve system gaps and improve digital delivery outcomes.
Digital Transformation & Innovation
- Support enterprise digital transformation initiatives, including platform modernization, digital twin development, task automation, and workflow optimization.
- Research, pilot, and scale emerging technologies such as AI-driven data analytics, advanced PIM solutions, and integrated asset information models, balancing innovation with operational stability.
- Translate business and engineering requirements into scalable technical solutions that improve project efficiency, reduce risk, and support long-term asset management.
Vendor Engagement
- Define technical requirements for vendor relationships, support contract negotiations, and guide managed service engagements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Management, or related field
- Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in engineering PMIS platforms, digital delivery, enterprise transformation, or technology leadership within the AEC, EPC, or industrial project environment.
- Demonstrated experience implementing and supporting enterprise engineering platforms (e.g., Bentley, Autodesk, Esri, Newforma, Procore, or similar).
- Proven ability to define standards, document processes, and lead adoption across diverse project teams.
Preferred / Differentiating Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Project Information Management (PIM) strategies on large, complex, or regulated projects.
- Experience leading cloud-hosted engineering systems and migrations (Azure and/or AWS).
- Background supporting Transportation, Federal, and Aviation client and agency requirements and highly regulated environments (CMMC, FedRAMP, IDL, etc.)
- Software-specific certifications or advanced training related to engineering data management, cloud platforms, or digital delivery tools.
