Position Description:
Are you an experienced Medical Assistant looking for the next challenge? Alpenglow Pain & Wellness is looking for a Full-Time Medical Assistant I / II / Senior to join our energized and friendly environment with a team of individuals who exhibit an internal hustle, strong work ethic, and a drive to provide excellent patient care.
Our office Alpenglow Pain & Wellness was awarded top pain management doctor in Anchorage for 2021, 2022, 2023 & 2024 and consistently receives 5-star reviews from patients on all review platforms. Our providers include interventional pain physicians and anesthesiologists, Dr. Nichelle Renk and Dr. Mary Beth Calor, as well as Physician Assistant Cynthia Dunleavy, PA-C, and Massage Therapists Cat Fletcher, LMT & Jenn Seifert-Byrne, LMT.
A Medical Assistant I / II / Senior tasks include but not limited to: Patient care such as obtaining vitals, scribing patient histories, review of symptoms, physical exam, assessment, and plan for the provider as well as managing the patient phone calls, voicemails, and portal messages throughout the day; Clinical Support such as ensuring exam rooms are cleaned, sanitized, stocked and prepared for visits, providing and processing laboratory tests, performing intramuscular injections, and assisting with procedures by preparing a sterile tray, operating a fluoroscopy, and placing intravenous lines. Other duties would include sterilization, supply inventory, and completing clinical documents/prior authorizations.
Responsibilities
Hands-on Patient Care
Chart Documentation
Assisting the physician in procedures
Answering phone calls, voicemails, and portal messages
Perform other clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, transcribing, and faxing
Skills
Self-Directed & Self-Sufficient
Excellent scribing/typing speed of 65-75 WPM
High quality documentation and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with office equipment (e.g. fax machines and printers)
Strong Clinical Skills to include Phlebotomy
Professional attitude and appearance
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
Excellent skills in mentoring and providing guidance to fellow Medical Assistants
Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
Positive customer service attitude
High school degree
5+ years EMT or Medical Assistant experience Preferred
Experience with Athena EMR Preferred
