What You’ll Do:
- Measure, apply, change, repair, and remove casts, braces and splints for patients
- Apply and instruct patients in the use of durable medical equipment
- Remove dressings, sutures and staples
- Prepare patients for exams and special procedures and cleans rooms between each patient encounter
- Identify and report changes in patient status to Advanced Practice Provider or Physician
- Initiate CPR and emergency measures as required
- Ensure supplies are stocked and equipment is in safe working order
- Demonstrate accurate and descriptive clinical documentation
- Obtain and document patient’s weight, vital signs and initial information for providers as assigned
- Conduct initial assessment of patients with orthopedic pathology. Present case to Advanced Practice Providers or Physician
- Assist with sterile prepping for aspirations and injections
What We’re Looking For:
Required:
- High School Graduate with medical experience
- Certification from National Association of Orthopedic Technologists
- BLS/AHA
- Typing and computer skills
- Proficient specialty experience in working in Orthopedic practice
- Must be experienced and comfortable with casting, splints, braces, etc.
- Must be able to apply casts comfortably and with proficiency
Preferred:
- Minimum 1.5+ years of ambulatory, clinic, and/or family health center experience
- Experience with Meditech or another electronic medical record system
