Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position plays a critical role in producing high-quality finished products through the preparation and application of industrial coatings, paints, stains, and lacquers on wood and other building material products.

If you take pride in your craftsmanship, have a strong eye for detail, and enjoy working in a hands-on production environment where quality matters, we would like to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Paint Shop Specialist (Paint Sprayer), you will be responsible for preparing, finishing, inspecting, and maintaining high-quality coated products while supporting safe and efficient paint shop operations. In this role, you will:

  • Independently prepare, mix, and apply paints, stains, primers, glazes, lacquers, and industrial coatings using spray equipment, brushes, and hand tools.
  • Prepare surfaces for finishing through sanding, filling, masking, smoothing, and touch-ups to achieve a consistent, high-quality appearance.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure quality standards are consistently met and participate in quality control processes.
  • Operate, clean, maintain, and troubleshoot spray equipment, paint booths, compressors, and related finishing tools.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company standards.
  • Complete required production records, equipment logs, and safety documentation accurately and on time.
  • Collaborate with team members across departments to support production schedules and customer requirements.

What you bring:

At Muskoka Lumber, we look for professionals who balance technical proficiency with a collaborative, service-oriented mindset. Required skills, abilities, and attributes:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
  • Minimum three (3) years of paint spraying, industrial finishing, or related manufacturing experience, preferably involving wood products, cabinetry, millwork, building materials, or custom finishing applications.
  • Strong knowledge of coating products, spray finishing techniques, surface preparation methods, drying processes, colour matching, and spray booth operations.
  • Experience operating and maintaining spray guns, compressors, sanding equipment, pneumatic tools, and related finishing equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality, with the ability to consistently produce a high-quality finished product.
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices, including the safe handling of paints, stains, solvents, and other hazardous materials.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage competing priorities, and meet production deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Valid Class G Driver's Licence, Forklift certification and experience operating material handling equipment is considered an asset.
  • Ability to safely wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, hearing protection, safety footwear, and other safety equipment as required.
  • Physically capable of performing the essential duties of the position, including standing and walking for extended periods, frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive movements. Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 80 lbs with assistance.
