About This Position
Job Summary:
The Feedlot Performance Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing the performance of feedlots by working with clients to analyze data, make recommendations, and ensure the effective implementation of strategies to drive profitability. This consulting role involves significant travel, with a focus on building strong relationships with clients, understanding their business needs, and providing tailored solutions that enhance operational efficiency and profitability.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Account Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Feedlot Performance clients, ensuring consistent communication and support.
- Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with Feedlot Performance clients to understand their unique needs and objectives.
- Support client needs by identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring all client concerns are addressed promptly.
- Analyzing Customer
- Collect, analyze, and interpret feedlot data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for growth.
- Provide actionable insights to clients to enhance feedlot performance and profitability.
- Collect feed samples and ensure that data is accurately tracked and utilized in decision making.
- Ensure client rations are regularly updated by working closely with a supporting PhD Nutritionist to build and adjust rations as needed.
- Client Communication:
- Act as a client accountability partner by tracking progress against established goals and ensuring clients stay on track with their performance plans.
- Develop new performance plans on a monthly basis, tailoring strategies to the specific needs and goals of each client.
- Help clients execute the performance plan, providing operational training and guidance as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
- Conducting Client Monthly Meetings:
- Organize and lead monthly meetings with clients to review performance, discuss challenges, and plan for the upcoming period.
- Prepare for client calls by gathering relevant data, updating performance plans, and identifying key discussion points.
- Facilitate client meetings by ensuring that all relevant information is communicated clearly and that clients are engaged in the planning process.
- Operational Training and Support:
- Provide hands-on training to clients, focusing on areas that directly impact performance and profitability.
- Work collaboratively with clients to implement changes, providing support and resources as needed to ensure successful execution.
- Internal Communication and Teamwork
- Collaborate closely with internal teams including fellow Feedlot Performance Specialists, Risk Management team, Sales team, etc. to align on client goals and ensure a unified service approach.
- Share client insights, challenges, and feedback with relevant team members to support continuous improvements and innovation.
- Participate in regular team meetings and planning sessions to promote knowledge-sharing and cross-functional collaboration.

- The ability to run accurate feedlot projections
Qualifications
- Experience in the feedlot industry, with a strong understanding of feedlot operations and management.
- Hands-on experience operating a feed-yard, required.
- Knowledgeable in cattle nutrition, though an expert level is not required.
- Familiarity with feedlot technology and its application in optimizing feedlot operations.
- Demonstrated understanding of the financial aspects of feeding different types of cattle and strategies to maximize profitability.
- Ability to travel 75%+, must have valid drivers license and acceptable driving record.
