About This Position

POSITION SUMMARY
-
Serves as a liaison between patients or families and medical or hospital staff to facilitate conflict resolution. Coordinates complaint management. Validates and documents that Patient Rights and Responsibilities are discussed with each patient. Provides oral interpretation and written translation services between Haitian Creole speaking patients/families and the hospital staff.

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
-
Minimum Required:
-
Associate Degree in a social sciences or healthcare-related field.

Influent in speaking, reading and writing Haitian Creole
-
Knowledge of the Haitian Creole population. Communications skills gained through experience in a high customer contact position.

Proficient in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, graphics and database software.

Preferred:
-
Bachelors Degree in a social sciences or health-care field, and certification as an Interpreter, with knowledge of hospital organization/processes and previous related experience in a healthcare setting.
