Program Instructor in Morgantown, West Virginia at Eastern Sports Management

This position will work on-site at The Aquatic Center in Mylan Park, West Virginia. The Aquatic Center includes a community pool, an Olympic-sized competition pool, outdoor splash pad, dynamic fitness room, outdoor track and so much more. It has become a local hub of sports tourism by hosting elite-level regional and national Aquatics and Track events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely instruct client or team through an effective training session

• Provide quality customer service to all clients and potential clients, regardless of skill level, appearance, or otherwise

• Ensure client safety

• Communicate effectively with the supervisor through phone, email, or in person

• Enforce all program policies and procedures as it pertains to the sport development program

• Enforce all building policies and procedures and assist as needed during emergencies

• Attend all sport instructor and necessary all-department staff meetings

• Safely instruct effective, creative sport practices or private lessons

• Provide quality customer service to all participants in class, regardless of fitness level, appearance, or otherwise

• Communicate effectively with supervisor through phone, email, or in person

• Enforce all program policies and procedures as it pertains to the sport and program

• Enforce all building policies and procedures and assist as needed during emergencies

• Attend all necessary meetings and trainings

• Other duties as required

Requirements

• Possess current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications

• Leadership and supervisory abilities

• Entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm

• Excellent organizational, and written and interpersonal communication skills

• Ability to work independently

• Knowledge of standard practices in recreational sports

• Ability to thrive in an environment that values high expectations, accountability, and balanced lifestyles

Competencies

• Proficiency with sport knowledge and coaching techniques

• Proficient with developing plan for continued growth in athletes’ skills

• Internal contacts include staff at all levels. External contacts include external customers and vendors.

• Contact involves troubleshooting, informing, exchanging information, negotiating, making recommendations, and giving information or instructions.

Physical Demands

• Standing or walking for at least 50% of the work day

• Occasional bending, stooping

• Hearing and talking

Work Environment

• Office environment/fitness center environment

• Moderate to loud noise

• Evening and/or weekend work as required
