The Service Project Lead is a technical professional who supports a team of Service Technicians, Heavy Maintenance Technicians and Service Leadership in ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local rules, regulations and polices governing environmental and public health protection. This position will report to the Service Superintendent. This position will focus on service projects and startups. When the Service Project Lead is at their home office, they will perform normal break/fix calls to support the local branch. This position focuses on customer site storage tank systems, which is defined as all or part of an UST or AST, associated underground or aboveground piping directly serving that storage tank, and one or more of the following which are directly associated with that storage tank:

  • Ancillary equipment (electrical, vapor recovery, access, or other systems and devices, including, but not limited to, devices, piping, fittings, flanges, valves, and pumps used to distribute, meter, monitor, or control the flow of regulated substances to or from a storage tank system.)
  • Secondary containment
  • Corrosion protection system
  • Release detection system
  • Spill and overfill protection system

Primary Responsibilities:

Includes but is not limited to helping with and oversite of projects, processing regulated paperwork, and logging & maintaining a record of regulated paperwork in a professional manner to ensure that it is credible and admissible in a court proceeding. The Service Project Lead assures communication with regulatory agencies and disseminates relevant information to all necessary parties. The Service Project Lead provides guidance, education, and advice on compliance matters to all internal stakeholders.

Operations: The Service Project Lead participates directly in planning new equipment installations, often in coordination with their Service Superintendent, a service project manager, national service accounts and/or their regional salesperson to provide input on any regulatory requirements for projects. In addition to new equipment installations, other assigned service projects will occur that will require the Service Project Lead to coordinate project fulfillment based on timeliness, quality, and efficiency.

In collaboration with regional salespeople, the Service Project Lead assures transparent & timely communication with key customers and acts as an escalation point when needed for resolving customer issues.

Safety: The Service Project Lead is responsible for co-leading the company’s behavior-based safety program across their territory. This includes assisting Service Leadership in assuring that all technicians are adequately trained and equipped to perform their job duties safely each day.

Job Duties:

  • Perform as Licensed card holder on projects. Depending on the jurisdiction, this may entail possessing one or more of the following:
  • Valid weights & measures license
  • Mechanics license
  • Maintain an auditable log of certified activities for company.
  • Train technician staff in technical and documentation/reporting matters related to state regulations.
  • Serve as subject matter expert in support of technicians, project managers and service leadership in matters of regulatory compliance.
  • Represent JF Petroleum Group in industry/professional organizations such as PEI, PECA, industry trade shows, and local or state agencies.
  • Assist with Inspections when needed.
  • Perform site surveys when needed.
  • Perform site startups on high level customers and equipment.
  • Perform out of town projects when needed.
  • Complete targeted number of safety interactions with technicians.
  • Assure completed work orders are accurate when passed to the billing team.
  • Perform updates to customers on project progression and completion.
Requirements:
  • Highschool Diploma or GED required
  • Technician Level 3 (minimum), level 4 (preferred).
  • Must reside in Texas or Louisiana.
  • Must be able to travel 80%.
  • 5 Years of retail or commercial petroleum equipment service and/or installation experience.
  • Must possess valid professional licensure as required by the states’ department of environmental protection/quality for states that they are expected to regularly support.
  • Must be able to successfully manage and complete a high volume & variety of tasks simultaneously.
  • Must possess proficiency using Microsoft Office, including Teams, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must have a valid Driver License.
  • Must have strong communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and strong customer satisfaction orientation.
  • Successful candidates must complete background check and drug screening upon hire.
  • Must be able to meet company’s employment requirements, which includes passing a drug screen, criminal background check, and MVR, if driving for the company.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to repetitively lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 pounds, frequent bending, stooping, standing 8-10 hours per day.
