Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Value Stream Manager, The Production Supervisor leads and directs all aspects of operations within the department. Directly, and through associates the Supervisor trains and develops department production teams. Focuses team on meeting next and final customer teams. Monitors and continuously enhance associate engagement and provides and allocates rewards and recognition. Coordinates the delivery of safety, health and other associate support programs to team members. Counsels, advises, and assists teams in planning and problem solving required to complete missions, goals, and objectives. Owns overall process and execution for department’s SQDC board(s). The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations on the manufacturing floor, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, and issuing disciplinary actions when necessary to maintain team accountability and performance

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Lead and coach production associates within labor and operating expense budgeted hours to meet and executed the daily/weekly production schedules for multiple lines.

2. Meet the safety, quality, delivery, cost and engagement goals established for the site while coordinating production through the goals to minimize waste.

3. Complete and update all necessary production paperwork and record, including timesheets and Company Policy logs.

4. Ensure equipment in the area assigned is in working order and that working conditions are always safe.

5. Review and analyze production records to identify opportunities for improvement.

6. Make recommendations for long-term solutions, including recommendations for replacing equipment, refurbishing equipment, procedural changes, productivity improvement, material change, etc., related to the area of accountability.

7. Drive continuous improvement in area of responsibility through teamwork, skills and capability development.

8. Staff, train, evaluate and develop associates.

9. Manage and facilitate associate and management relationships within the guidelines of the Employee Guide and Company Policies

10. Explains and enforces company policies and rules; maintains discipline, morale and employee relations; administers disciplinary action for rule violations, misconduct, absenteeism or deficient performance.

LEADERSHIP:

1. Must demonstrate an excellent ability to work in a “team” environment and share knowledge of discipline-specific work in both a vertical (up and down the org chart) and horizontal (across disciplines and departments) orientation.

2. Must demonstrate an ability to make well-informed rational decisions and problem-solving skills within organizational policies and procedures.

3. This position has direct reports.

DECISION MAKING:

Exercise judgment regularly and continuously and assume responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results impacting people and the high quality of service within the company.

COMMUNICATION:

Must communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with employees, co-workers, suppliers, vendors, and contractors.

EDUCATION:

An associate degree or bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially for scheduling, planning, and production reporting.

2. Basic familiarity with production layouts or schematics (e.g., AutoCAD or similar tools) is helpful but not required.

3. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to lead, coach, and mentor production teams.

4. Experience in the marine or manufacturing industry is strongly preferred.

5. Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and the ability to train and guide teams in applying them effectively is preferred

6. Supervisory experience in a production environment, preferably in the yacht or marine sector, with an understanding of industry standards and safety protocols.

7. Demonstrated leadership in applying Lean practices to improve safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting in a typical office position for extended periods while operating a telephone and computer with occasional light lifting. The work also requires regular visits to the Shipyard, vessels, offsite joiner shop, and headquarters facilities, which include climbing stairs and standing during training and presentations.
